The aim of this study was to assess the risk of unfavorable outcomes according to the timing of hypotension episodes in cardiac arrest patients. This prospectively conducted multicenter observational study included 1373 out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients treated with 33 °C targeted temperature management (TTM). Unfavorable neurological outcome and the incidence of complications were analyzed according to the timing of hypotension.

Thus, we aimed to determine whether changes in various parameters on ECG, including T/QRS ratio, can assist in distinguishing between coronary artery disease (CAD) and NSTEMI without CAD with low to moderate risk.
Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 2572 patients who presented ischemic symptoms, who were diagnosed with NSTEMI, and who underwent coronary angiography.
Background: Increasing the size of the central veins is required to increase the success rate of central line placement and decrease complication risk. Right-sided approach for the central veins, Valsalva maneuver, and Trendelenburg position have been recommended, but these may not be available for some cases. Therefore, this paper proposes more efficient approach methods for estimating shape parameters in the presence of a nuisance parameter, that is, a scale parameter, from Bayesian and non-Bayesian perspectives if record values have an exponentiated half-logistic distribution. In the frequentist approach, estimation methods based on pivotal quantities are proposed which require no complex computation unlike the maximum likelihood method.

A new amorphous semiconducting polymer containing dodecylthiophene rings and a rigid thieno[3,2-b]thiophene ring, poly(2,5-bis(3'-dodecyl-2,2'-bithiophen-5-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene) (NAP), was synthesized via a microwave-assisted Stille coupling reaction. The presence of the flexible unsubstituted thiophene ring units next to the rigid fused thiophene ring caused NAP to have an amorphous structure. This structure was confirmed by XRD, AFM, and computational calculations.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFMossbauer, EPR, magnetic susceptibility, and DFT studies of the unusual two-coordinate iron(II) amide Fe[N(t-Bu)(2)](2) show that it retains a linear N-Fe-N framework due to the nonbonding delta nature of the (xy, x(2)-y(2)) orbitals. The resulting near-degenerate ground state gives rise to a large magnetic moment and a remarkably large internal hyperfine field. The results confirm that extraordinary orbital magnetic effects can arise in linear transition metal complexes in which orbital degeneracies are not broken by Jahn-Teller or Renner-Teller distortions.
