Canine mammary gland tumors (MGT) have a poor prognosis in intact female canines, posing a clinical challenge. This study aimed to establish novel canine mammary cancer cell lines from primary tumors and characterize their cellular and molecular features to find potential therapeutic drugs. The MGT cell lines demonstrated rapid cell proliferation and colony formation in an anchorage-independent manner.

Its ER targeting ability and high selectivity to GSH over thioredoxin, a potent competitor, were clearly demonstrated, both in solution and in vitro. Finally, a confocal microscopic investigation revealed that GSH levels in the ER were dramatically decreased under thapsigargin, brefeldin A, and tunicamycin-induced ER stress models.

And it also causes a number of extrapulmonary manifestations including cardiovascular, dermatological, musculoskeletal, and hematological systems. But, acute hepatitis without lung involvement is rare in adults.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients with serum IgG antibody to Toxocara canis and liver abscess diagnosed using abdominal computed tomography between February 2010 and February 2015. Among 84 patients exhibiting serum IgG antibody to Toxocara canis, 34 patients were diagnosed with liver asbscess and treated with albendazole.
Objective: To compare and analyze the clinical characteristics of children with delayed language acquisition due to two different diagnoses, which were specific language impairment (SLI, a primarily delayed language development) and global developmental delay (GDD, a language delay related to cognitive impairment).
Methods: Among 1,598 children who had visited the developmental delay clinic from March 2005 to February 2011, 467 children who were diagnosed with GDD and 183 children who were diagnosed with SLI were included in this study. All children were questioned about past, family, and developmental history, and their language competences and cognitive function were assessed.

Sclerosing mesenteritis (SM) is a rare disease characterized by chronic nonspecific mesenteric inflammation and fibrosis of unknown etiology. Some tumefactive SM shows diffuse accumulation of IgG4-positive plasma cells and is considered as a part of the spectrum of IgG4-related disease. An association between inflammatory bowel disease and IgG4-related disease has been indicated.

The aim of this study was to assess the clinical value of exercise echocardiographic testing in asymptomatic patients with severe AS.
Methods: Symptom-limited treadmill exercise testing using the modified Bruce protocol was performed in 31 asymptomatic patients (mean age (62 ± 11) years) with severe AS (aortic valve area <1 cm(2), peak aortic velocity (AV Vmax) >4 m/sec, or a mean transaortic pressure gradient (AV mean PG) >40 mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.
Background: The aim of this study was to assess contractile reserve (CR) in patients with severe aortic regurgitation (AR), and potential clinical applications of CR in minimally symptomatic patients.
Methods And Results: Symptom-limited treadmill exercise echocardiography was performed in 58 asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients with chronic severe AR (male 69%, 50±14 years). Patients with increased ejection fraction (EF) after exercise were denoted as having CR (+) and those without increased EF were categorized as CR (-).
In event-related potential (ERP) research, the average potential over many trials is a useful measure, but it obscures temporal variability across trials that may be functionally significant. Familiar ERP components have been shown to reflect the phase shifting of oscillatory activity that is present in varying degrees before the event. Even with single trials, understanding the underlying neural activity may require methods of dealing with the spatial superposition of neural signals at the head surface electrodes.

We have developed an automated environment to construct individualized computational head models from image segmentation and to estimate conductivity parameters using electrical impedance tomography methods. Algorithms incorporating tissue inhomogeneity and impedance anisotropy in electromagnetics forward simulations have been developed and parallelized.

Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to received either irinotecan at a dose of 65 mg/m(2) plus cisplatin at a dose of 30 mg/m(2) (Arm A) or gemcitabine at a dose of 900 mg/m(2) plus vinorelbine at a dose of 25 mg/m(2) (Arm B), each of which was administered on Days 1 and 8 every 3 weeks as the first-line therapy followed by crossover at the time of disease progression.
Results: A total of 146 patients were enrolled (75 patients in Arm A and 71 patients in Arm B); 138 patients were evaluable for tumor response and toxicity.
The objective of this study was to examine the effects of coping strategies on the endocrine and immune functions in different stress situations. Thirty-eight medical students were enrolled in this study. Cell-mediated immune function was measured using the lymphocyte proliferative response to phytohemagglutinin (PHA) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) production during the nonexamination period and during the preexamination period.
