We present an air-stable mid-infrared (mid-IR) Ag-doped HgTe (Ag-HgTe) colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized by a newly developed cation-exchange (CE) method in solution phase and mid-IR diode sensors fabricated with the as-synthesized Ag-HgTe quantum dots (QDs). The cation-exchanged p-doped Ag-HgTe CQDs are used for the p-n junction formation with a n-doped HgTe CQDs. Surprisingly, the Ag-HgTe CQDs sustain the optical and physical properties in the colloidal phase under ambient conditions for 900 days.

Iridium single atom catalysts are promising oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts for proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE), as they can reduce the reliance on costly Ir in the OER catalysts. However, their practical application is hindered by their limited stability during PEMWE operation. Herein, we report on the activation of Ir-doped CoMnO in acidic electrolyte that leads to enhanced activity and stability in acidic OER for long-term PEMWE operation.

Article Synopsis
  • There is limited research linking breast MRI surveillance to the incidence of advanced second breast cancer in women with a personal history of breast cancer.
  • A study conducted on women who underwent breast cancer surgery between 2009 and 2014 found that those who received MRI surveillance had significantly lower odds of developing advanced second breast cancer compared to those who did not.
  • The findings suggest that surveillance breast MRI may be an effective tool for monitoring women with a personal history of breast cancer, potentially leading to earlier detection and better outcomes.

Enzymes, composed of earth-abundant elements, outperform conventional heterogeneous photocatalysts in hydrogen production due to the dual-site cooperation between adjacent active metal sites and proton-transferring ligands. However, the realization of such dual-site cooperation in heterogeneous catalytic systems is hindered by the challenges in the precise construction of cooperative active sites. In this study, we present the design of a structurally tuned metal-organic framework (MOF) photocatalyst that incorporates cooperative Brønsted acid-single atom catalytic sites.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor impairments and the accumulation of misfolded α-synuclein. Dysregulation of the autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP), responsible for degrading misfolded proteins, has been implicated in PD pathogenesis. However, current diagnostic approaches rely heavily on motor symptoms, which occur due to substantial neurodegeneration, limiting early detection and intervention.

Introduction: Recently, "body-first" and "brain-first" subtype in Parkinson's disease (PD) was proposed based on the propagation of α-synuclein. In isolated RBD considered as a premotor stage of body-first PD, α-synuclein was supposed to originate in the enteric nervous system and spreads via autonomic nervous system. Therefore, we hypothesized that body-first PD is more likely to have a delayed gastric emptying time and reduced cardiac sympathetic denervation.

Active surveillance (AS) has been widely adopted as an alternative to immediate surgery owing to the indolent nature and favorable outcomes of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). AS is generally recommended for tumors measuring ≤1 cm without aggressive cytological subtypes, risk of gross extrathyroidal extension (ETE), lymph node metastasis (LNM), or distant metastasis. AS requires careful patient selection based on various patient and tumor characteristics, and ultrasound (US) findings.
