Cancer is a multifactorial and deadly disease. Despite major advancements in cancer therapy in the last two decades, cancer incidence is on the rise and disease prognosis still remains poor. Furthermore, molecular mechanisms of cancer invasiveness, metastasis, and drug resistance remain largely elusive.

Recent evidence suggests that inflammation plays an important role in the propagation of protein aggregates. However, the mechanism by which inflammation regulates the propagation of aggregates remains unknown.

The main feature of this ion source system is the use of both magnetic filters and plasma pulsing (also called the temporal filter). The system operates with two alternate pulsing sequences related to the respective plasma sources, thereby switching the plasmas in the after-glow state in an alternating manner.

Sustaining a high glucose utilization via glycolysis requires efficient replenishment of NAD+ in the cytosol. Apoptosis-inducing mitochondrion-associated factor 2 (AIFM2) was previously shown to be a NADH oxidoreductase domain-containing flavoprotein that promotes glycolysis for diet and cold-induced thermogenesis.

In response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, a number of global efforts are underway to develop vaccines and therapeutics. We are therefore observing an explosion in the proliferation of COVID-19 data, and interoperability is highly requested in multiple institutions participating simultaneously in COVID-19 pandemic research.

We determine the impact of the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Committee (SCC) guidance on CAT management and thrombocytopenia on platelet transfusion, bleeding, and recurrent thrombosis.
Methods: A retrospective review was performed of patients with CAT and thrombocytopenia who required anticoagulation for VTE for 11 months before and after implementation of the ISTH SCC guidance.
This study investigated the time-dependent characteristics of acupuncture and analyzed the association between acupuncture utilization and mortality rates, readmission rates, and complications among ischemic stroke patients. Data from the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort 2.0 from South Korea were used to track patients with subacute and chronic ischemic stroke, who had survived more than one month after onset, between 2010 and 2013.

We sought to generate normal values and elucidate changes of helical flow (duration, volume, length, velocities and rotational direction) and flow jet (displacement, flow angle) as well as wall shear stress (WSS).
Methods: We assessed the temporal helical existence (TH), maximum helical volume (HV), accumulated helical volume (HV), accumulated helical volume length (HVL), maximum forward velocity (maxV), maximum circumferential velocity (maxV), rotational direction (RD) and maximum wall shear stress (WSS) as reported elsewhere using the software tool Bloodline in 86 healthy volunteers (46 females, mean age 41 ± 13 years).
Human Pseudoterranova decipiens larval infections were diagnosed by molecular analysis of mitochondrial cox1 and nd1 genes in 12 health check-up patients in South Korea during 2002-2020. Based on high genetic identity (99.3%-100% for cox1 and 96.

Foodborne trematodes (FBT) of public health significance include liver flukes ( and ), lung flukes ( and several other spp.) and intestinal flukes, which include heterophyids ( and ), echinostomes ( and ) and miscellaneous species, including and . These trematode infections are distributed worldwide but occur most commonly in Asia.

Although this device has recently begun to be utilized for providing neuroprotection in stroke, research on its application conditions is lacking. This study aimed to examine the effects of various tDCS application conditions on cerebral ischemia.

During typical MD processes, the saline feedwater is heated and acts as the thermal energy carrier; however, temperature polarization (as well as thermal energy loss) contributes to low distillate fluxes, low single-pass water recovery and poor thermal efficiency. An alternative approach is to integrate an extra thermal energy carrier as part of the membrane and/or module assembly, which can channel externally provided heat directly to the membrane-feedwater interface and/or along the feed channel length.

However, improper dose errors in intravenous (IV) administration of narcotic analgesics from a PCA infusion pump can cause patient harm. Furthermore, opioid overdose is considered one of the highest risk factors for patients receiving pain medications.

Rapid diagnostic tests are widely used for this purpose. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical performance of four SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin IgG/IgM rapid diagnostic tests in the detection of SARS-CoV-2.

This study aims at describing the diaphragm function time course of septic and non-septic mechanically ventilated patients.
Methods: Secondary analysis of two prospective observational studies of mechanically ventilated patients in whom diaphragm function was assessed twice: within the 24 h after intubation and when patients were switched to pressure support mode, by measuring the endotracheal pressure in response to bilateral anterior magnetic phrenic nerve stimulation (Ptr,stim).
Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection is common in patients with structural lung damage. To address how NTM infection is established and causes lung damage, we established an NTM mouse model by intranasal inoculation of clinical isolates of M. intracellulare.

Hepatotoxicity caused by DILI has been shown to be due to cellular stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, cell necrosis and apoptosis and many types of hepatotoxicity, such as phospholipidosis, steatosis and hepatitis, commonly share intracellular molecular mechanisms. Metabolomics can be useful for mechanism-based toxicity evaluations and has been recently utilized as a scientific technique that can effectively predict the risk factors for chemical substances.
