Article Synopsis
  • Bypass surgery is a common treatment for moyamoya disease, and the study evaluates the effectiveness of antiplatelet therapy (APT) in improving clinical outcomes post-surgery.
  • A systematic review analyzed data from five studies involving 903 patients, revealing that APT significantly improved bypass vessel patency and reduced transient ischemic events, while offering better functional outcomes.
  • However, APT showed no significant differences in the rates of postoperative strokes, seizures, or cerebral hemorrhages compared to those not receiving APT.

Background: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has become an important treatment method for acute anterior circulation large vessel occlusion. The carotid artery approach is a fast and effective alternative when the transfemoral approach is difficult due to vascular variation. The present study reports on seven cases of acute anterior circulation stroke where direct carotid approach was used to obtain vascular access.

Objective: To construct a recombinant adenoviral vector carrying and co-expressing vascular endothelial growth factor 165 (VEGF165) and stromal cell derived factor 1 (SDF-1) and explore its co-expression in ischemic brain tissue in rats.

Methods: The VEGF165 and SDF-1 genes were directionally connected with internal ribosome entry site (IRES). And the double gene co-expression recombinant shuttle plasmid pDC316-VEGF165-IRES-SDF-1 was built with homologous recombination.
