Background: A sea cucumber () is an invertebrate rich in high-quality protein peptides that inhabits the coastal seas around East Asian countries. Such bioactive peptides can be utilized in targeted disease therapies and practical applications in the nutraceutical industry.
Methods: Bioactive peptides were isolated from through ultrafiltration and Sephadex G-10 size exclusion chromatography.
The global obesity epidemic, exacerbated by the sedentary lifestyle fostered by the COVID-19 pandemic, presents a growing socioeconomic burden due to decreased physical activity and increased morbidity. Current obesity treatments show promise, but they often come with expensive medications, frequent injections, and potential side effects, with limited success in improving obesity through increased energy expenditure. The present study evaluated the effects of (-)-loliolide isolated from () against oxidative stress and inflammation, and its biological mechanism in interferon (IFN)-γ/tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α-stimulated HaCaT keratinocytes. The results showed that (-)-loliolide improved the cell viability by reducing the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) in IFN-γ/TNF-α-stimulated HaCaT keratinocytes.
