- Jujuboside A (JuA), a key component of semen ziziphi spinosae, is shown to enhance sleep by reducing spontaneous activity, speeding up sleep onset, and increasing total sleep time.
- In laboratory tests involving rat tissues, JuA was found to lower levels of several pro-inflammatory cytokines after treatment, suggesting a pathway through which it exerts its sedative effects.
- Additionally, JuA treatment altered the expression of GABA receptor mRNAs in hippocampal neurons, indicating that it influences both GABA signaling and cytokine communication in the brain to enhance sleep quality.
