Objective: We aimed to explore the geographic differences in psychological symptoms, sleep quality, and quality of life (QoL) among adult patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: A unified questionnaire was developed to collect data on psychological status and QoL of IBD patients from 42 hospitals across 22 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China's mainland from September 2021 to May 2022.
Results: A total of 2478 patients with IBD were surveyed.
To identify cognitive function in Chinese breast cancer survivors. Research questions were: is cognitive function was associated with breast cancer and/or chemotherapy treatment and/or psychological functioning:? and did women with breast cancer experience more cognitive and psychological issues than age-matched women without cancer? Breast cancer survivors with chemotherapy (n = 106, mean age = 50.2 ± 9.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA well-designed filter assembly is incorporated to an earlier mobile Rayleigh Doppler Lidar developed at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) for wind measurement round the clock. The filter assembly consists of two cascaded Fabry-Perot Etalons (FPEs) and a narrow-band interference filter (IF), which are optimized to filter out strong solar background radiation during daytime. The high resolution FPE is mainly used to compress the whole bandwidth of the filter assembly, whereas the low resolution FPE with relatively large free spectral range (FSR) is primarily used to block the unwanted periodic transmission peaks of high resolution FPE arising within the narrow-band IF passband.

However, the development and clinical application of peptide drugs were severely limited by the poor lifespans. Here, we designed an improved small albumin-binding polypeptide that can associate with human serum albumin (HSA) and liberate the bioactive peptide.

Methods: A total of 751 patients with uncomplicated type B dissection who underwent TEVAR at our centre between May 2001 and December 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. The mean age of all patients (619 males and 132 females) was 52.
A significant proportion of prostate cancer diagnoses may be associated with a strong hereditary component. Men who have multiple single-gene polymorphisms and a family history of prostate cancer have a significantly greater risk of developing prostate cancer. Numerous single-gene alterations have been confirmed to increase the risk of prostate cancer.

Objective: Determine the prevalence of WHO NRTI/NNRTI/PI TDRs in ART-naïve subjects in Hunan Province by deep sequencing.
Methods: ART-naïve subjects diagnosed in Hunan between 2010-2011 were evaluated by deep sequencing for low-frequency HIV variants possessing WHO TDRs to 1% levels.
Mutations in the TARDBP gene, which encodes the Tar DNA binding protein, have been shown to causes of both familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (FALS) and sporadic ALS (SALS). Recently, several novel TARDBP exon 6 mutants have been reported in patients with ALS in Europe and America but not in Asia. To further examine the spectrum and frequency of TARDBP exon 6 mutations, we investigated their frequency in ethnic Chinese patients with sporadic ALS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder mainly affecting motor neurons. Mutations in superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1) account for about 20% of familial ALS patients. A robust supply of motoneurons carrying the mutated gene would help understand the causes of motoneuron death and develop new therapeutics for the disease.

Methods: We investigated the V249I and T280M mutations of CX3CR1 in 308 consecutive Han Chinese patients that were diagnosed with cerebral infarction and 294 age- and gender-matched healthy control subjects. The patients were classified with Oxfordshire Community Stroke Project (OCSP) classification, evaluated with a National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score for an acute stage of stroke and assessed with a Barthel Index (BI) score 3months after stroke.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect and the influences of Shuxuetong injection on serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) level, the neurological deficit and activities of daily living in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
Method: The 80 patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into Shuxuetong treatment group (40 cases) and routine control group (40 cases), both received routine treatment, while Shuxuetong injection was given additionally to treatment group. The serum NSE level, the National Insitute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores and the clinical effect were observed pre-and post-treatment.
Selective neuronal loss is closely associated with cognitive impairments that occur following status epilepticus (SE). Our previous study suggested that erythropoietin (Epo) pre-treatment suppressed hippocampal neuronal death in rats after 1 h of SE convulsions. However, the underlying protective mechanism remained unclear.

Our experience with the surgical treatment of constrictive pericarditis in 72 cases is reported. The patients receiving surgical treatment had their cardiac function improved to NYHA class I in 59 cases and class II in 11 cases, and death occurred during the operation in 1 case and after the operation in another case due to myocardial expansion and low cardiac output syndrome, respectively. The key elements to ensure success of the surgeries lie in the extent of pericardiectomy and the time and approaches chosen for the operation.
