Coinage metal (Au, Ag, Cu) cluster and polyoxometalate (POM) cluster represent two types of subnanometer "artificial atoms" with significant potential in catalysis, sensing, and nanomedicine. While composite clusters combining Ag/Cu clusters with POM have achieved considerable success, the assembly of gold clusters with POM is still lagging. Herein, we first designedly synthesized two cluster structural units: an AuO cluster stabilized by diverse N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands and an amine-terminated POM linker.

Reducing the contact time of droplet impacts on surfaces is crucial for various applications including corrosion prevention and anti-icing. This study aims to explore a novel strategy that greatly reduces contact time using a superhydrophobic mesh surface with multiple sets of mutually perpendicular ridges while minimizing the influence of the impacting location. The effects of the impact Weber numbers and ridge spacing on the characteristics of the impact dynamics and contact time are studied experimentally.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how double droplets bounce off an inclined superhydrophobic surface with macro-ridges using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) simulations, identifying four different rebound behaviors: NCR, PCR-M, PCR-S, and CCR.
  • - These rebound behaviors depend on factors like droplet arrangement, distance between droplets, and Weber number, which influences the overall dynamics of the rebound.
  • - The contact time between droplets and the surface is affected by how droplets are arranged, with certain configurations, like parallel alignment to the ridge, significantly reducing contact time by increasing asymmetry in the liquid film.

Four inorganic-organic hybrid octa-Cu cluster sandwiched polyoxotungstates (POTs), [Cu(HO)(en)(B-α-HSiWO)] (), [Cu(HO)(en)(B-α-HGeWO)] (), K[Cu(en)(B-α-HSiWO)]·6HO (), and K[Cu(en)(B-α-HGeWO)]·2HO () (en = ethylenediamine), were hydrothermally made and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectra, powder X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. Structure analysis reveals that the polyoxoanion of / is a discrete dimer built by two trivalent Keggin [B-α-XWO] (X = Si/Ge) fragments and one octa-Cu cluster, whereas and display a two-dimensional network built by octa-Cu-sandwiched POT units via substitution of coordinated water on polyanions of and and further expand into a three-dimensional framework via K cation bridges. Ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra reveal that are potential semiconductor materials.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is a highly invasive malignant tumor. Expression levels of the autophagy-related protein microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3 (LC3) and perineural invasion (PNI) are closely related to its occurrence and development. Our previous results showed that the high expression of LC3 was positively correlated with PNI in the patients with pancreatic cancer.

Post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms play important roles in the regulation of LC-PUFA biosynthesis. Our previous study revealed that miR-33 could increase the expression of fatty acyl desaturases (fads2) in the rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus, but the specific mechanism is unknown. Here, we confirmed that miR-33 could target the 3'UTR of insulin-induced gene 1 (insig1), resulting in downregulation of its protein level in the rabbitfish hepatocyte line (SCHL).
