Cardiovascular disease incidence and its predictors among school teachers in Peninsular Malaysia: a prospective cohort study.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused substantial morbidity among occupationally active populations. However, data regarding the longitudinal burden of CVD were limited, particularly among school teachers. The objectives of our study were to estimate the incidence rate of CVD and determine its predictors among school teachers in Peninsular Malaysia through a prospective cohort study.

Assessing the effect of cardiovascular disease on work productivity and financial loss among school teachers in Peninsular Malaysia: a nested case-control study.

Background: School teachers may have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), potentially affecting their work productivity. However, limited data exists on the impact of CVD on teachers' productivity in Malaysia. Our objectives were to assess work productivity loss (absenteeism and presenteeism) as well as to determine the associated annual monetary loss among school teachers who experienced incident CVD in Peninsular Malaysia.

Anton-Babinski Syndrome in a Recurrent Ischemic Stroke Patient: A Case Report.

Anton-Babinski syndrome (ABS) is a rare neuropsychiatric condition characterized by visual anosognosia (denial of vision loss) and confabulation in the presence of intact anterior visual tracts. The most common cause of ABS is a cerebrovascular accident involving bilateral occipital lobe injuries with varying degrees of cortical blindness. In this report, we present the case of a woman with suspected ABS following a recurrent ischemic stroke in Malaysia.

A five-year retrospective study on the epidemiology of hand, foot and mouth disease in Sabah, Malaysia.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is endemic in Malaysia, with the number of cases increasing. Sabah has experienced several HFMD outbreaks, but information on the epidemiology and molecular characteristics of responsible viruses is scarce. In this study, data of 17,574 reports of HFMD cases in Sabah from 2015 to 2019 were extracted from a public health disease surveillance system and analyzed.

Iatrogenic intralenticular broken steroid implant: a case report.

Background: This is a case report of an iatrogenic intralenticular broken steroid (Ozurdex™) implant in a patient with uveitis. There are only a few case reports on broken Ozurdex™ implants in the vitreous cavity, with none of them involving the crystalline lens. A few authors have described the accidental injection of an Ozurdex™ implant into the crystalline lens, but all of the implants remained in one piece in the lens and none of them were broken.

Benign chondroid syringoma of the orbit: an atypical location.

A 31-year-old male with no known medical illness presented with painless left eye protrusion for the past 2 years. Radiographic features were of an extraconal superior orbital mass with no invasion of adjacent structures. The patient underwent an excisional biopsy of the left superior extraconal mass a week later.

Predictors of functional outcome in patients with stroke thrombolysis in a tertiary hospital in Malaysia.

Introduction: Intravenous (IV) thrombolysis with alteplase (rt-PA) is effective in ischaemic stroke. The primary objective was to evaluate predictors of functional outcome in acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) patients treated with IV rt-PA. The secondary objective was to assess the outcome with the modified Rankin scale (mRS).

Background: The literature on the dietary trigger factors of headache among the South East Asians is limited.

Objective: The objective of the study was to examine the dietary trigger factors of migraine and tension-type headache (TTH) in Malaysian patients, consisting of Malays, Chinese and Indians.

Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, patients presenting with migraine and TTH to a neurology clinic between April 2010 and June 2017 were recruited.

Cerebral infarction pattern in tuberculous meningitis.

The primary objective was to re-examine the concept of "TB zone" and "ischaemic zone" in cerebral infarction in patients with tuberculous meningitis. Purpose The aim of this paper is to demonstrate fundamental photographic techniques and standardized views in oculoplastic disease and surgery outside of a photographic studio. Methods A Canon EOS 60D digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera, which was fitted with a Canon EF-S 60 mm USM macro lens, was used to photograph the subject. A Canon MR-14EX Macro Ringlite was used to illuminate the subject.
