Article Synopsis
- Tabebuia sp. is a plant native to Central and South America, and while its bark extracts have been well-studied, little research has been done on the effects of its flower extract.
- A study evaluated the genotoxic potential of a flower extract from T. impetiginosa ("ipê roxo") on blood and liver cells of male Wistar rats using different doses of the extract.
- Results showed that except for the lowest dose (100 mg kg(-1)), higher doses caused significant DNA damage, especially in liver cells, suggesting a dose-dependent response, and further research is needed to better understand these effects.
