Decreasing the Interval Wait Times for Screening Mammogram Results Using the "Reflex Testing" Algorithm.

Objective: The purpose of this analysis was to determine whether our "reflex testing" (RefT) intervention, implemented to address barriers in scheduling, communication, and diagnostic order placement for resolving BI-RADS 0 screening mammograms, resulted in decreased interval wait times (IWT) for patients with abnormal screening mammograms (abSM).

Methods: All BI-RADS 0 cases over two six-month periods (pre-RefT and post-RefT) were analyzed. Timelines were generated for each BI-RADS 0 case.

The role of allogeneic transplant for adult Ph+ ALL in CR1 with complete molecular remission: a retrospective analysis.

Historically, Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has been associated with poor outcomes, and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is recommended in first complete remission (CR1). However, in the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) era, rapid attainment of a complete molecular remission (CMR) is associated with excellent outcomes without allo-HCT, suggesting transplant may not be required for these patients. To test this hypothesis, we retrospectively identified adult patients with Ph+ ALL treated with induction therapy, including TKIs, and attained CMR within 90 days of diagnosis at 5 transplant centers in the United States.

The prevalence of breast cancer increases with age. Older breast cancer patients often present with locally advanced disease at presentation because mammography, which diagnosed early stage disease, is not recommended after the age of 75. In addition, they are often undertreated even when they are physically fit and have non-metastatic disease.

Spatial-temporal dynamics of neotropical velvet ant (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae) communities along a forest-savanna gradient.

Understanding how and why biological communities are organized over space and time is a major challenge and can aid biodiversity conservation in times of global changes. Herein, spatial-temporal variation in the structure of velvet ant communities was examined along a forest-savanna gradient in the Brazilian Cerrado to assess the roles of environmental filters and interspecific interactions upon community assembly. Velvet ants were sampled using 25 arrays of Y-shaped pitfall traps with drift fences for one year along an environmental gradient from cerrado sensu stricto (open canopy, warmer, drier) to cerradão (closed canopy, cooler, moister).
