Purpose: Although patellofemoral instability (PFI) affects both femoral and patellar compartments, literature provided little attention for the patellar morphology contribution on PFI. This study evaluates the patellar morphology patterns on MRI to establish their contribution in PFI.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzes patellar MRI and X-ray measurements performed between 2018 and 2022.

Purpose: The association between the prevalence of patellofemoral arthritis (PFA) and femoral tunnel positioning following isolated medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLr) has not been well described. The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between femoral tunnel positioning and the prevalence of PFA.

Methods: This was a single-centre study of patients undergoing an isolated MPFLr between 2006 and 2011 with a minimum of 10 years of follow-up.

Article Synopsis
  • Functional implant positioning (FIP) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) uses preoperative CT scans and robotic technology to improve ligament balancing across different knee flexion angles.
  • A study involving 47 patients showed that FIP successfully achieved balanced knee conditions at 10° and 90° of flexion, but less so at 45°, indicating a need for further investigation into mid-flexion discrepancies.
  • Overall, the research highlights FIP's effectiveness in achieving proper knee alignment and suggests potential areas for improvement during the TKA process.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the 5-year outcomes of endoscopic iliopsoas tenotomy in patients experiencing iliopsoas tendinopathy after total hip arthroplasty (THA).
  • It involved a cohort of 16 men and 31 women, measuring cup positions through imaging techniques and assessing hip scores and pain relief post-procedure.
  • Results showed significant improvements in hip scores, but increased sagittal cup overhang was linked to decreased improvements in the modified Harris hip score.

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between chondral injury and interval from anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear to surgical reconstruction (ACLr).

Methods: Between January 2012 and January 2022, 1,840 consecutive ACLrs were performed and included in a single-centre retrospective cohort. Exclusion criteria were partial tears, multiligament knee injuries, prior ipsilateral knee surgery, concomitant unicompartmental knee arthroplasty or high tibial osteotomy, ACL agenesis, and unknown date of tear.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the time from injury to ACL reconstruction (ACLR) and the rate as well as repairability of meniscal tears. Secondary aims were to evaluate the relationship between meniscal injury and Tegner Activity Scale, age, BMI, and gender.

Methods: Between 2012 and 2022, 1,840 consecutive ACLRs were performed.

Background: Individualized, targeted, and intense training is the hallmark of successful gait rehabilitation in people post-stroke. Specifically, increasing use of the impaired ankle to increase propulsion during the stance phase of gait has been linked to higher walking speeds and symmetry. Conventional progressive resistance training is one method used for individualized and intense rehabilitation, but often fails to target paretic ankle plantarflexion during walking.

Aims: The use of high tibial osteotomy (HTO) to delay total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in young patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and constitutional deformity remains debated. The aim of this study was to compare the long-term outcomes of TKA after HTO compared to TKA without HTO, using the time from the index OA surgery as reference (HTO for the study group, TKA for the control group).

Methods: This was a case-control study of consecutive patients receiving a posterior-stabilized TKA for OA between 1996 and 2010 with previous HTO.

Purpose: Patellar tracking problems represent 2-10% of complications of total knee arthroplasties (TKA) in valgus knees. However, there are no studies assessing patellar tracking according to the severity of the valgus deformity. The hypothesis was that lateral approach TKA in severe valgus deformity provides equivalent patellar tracking to that in knees with mild valgus deformity.
