Titanium dioxide (TiO) NPs are extensively used as a white pigment in food (labeled under the European number E171) and personal care products, which creates a significant potential for chronic consumer exposure. Methods: Seventeen children and adolescents (all female; ages 9 to 18 y) admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation facility who completed neuropsychological assessments that included emotional functioning questionnaires, projective personality measures, and neuropsychological measures.
Results: Consistent evidence for somatization was found.
