The incidental finding of a breast lesion on a computed tomography scan is increasingly common at our institution. In the past 12 months, we have diagnosed 6 primary breast cancers--1 metastasis and 5 benign lesions--in this manner. We describe 4 cases illustrating a range of breast pathologies, benign and malignant, which have been detected by computed tomography scans.

The transcription factor GATA2 plays an essential role in the establishment and maintenance of adult hematopoiesis. It is expressed in hematopoietic stem cells, as well as the cells that make up the aortic vasculature, namely aortic endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells. We have shown that GATA2 expression is predictive of location within the thoracic aorta; location is suggested to be a surrogate for disease susceptibility.
