Objectives: to identify content on play and interaction with children with special health care needs recommended in clinical guidelines; analyze play and interaction activities applicable to children with special health care needs and complex care requirements.
Method: qualitative documentary research based on guides, protocols, or guidelines on playing and interacting with children with special and living with complex care. Search terms in English (guidelines, playing OR play, complex needs, OR chronic disease) and in Portuguese ( guia, brincar ou brincadeiras, condições crônicas ) on the first ten pages of_Google Search ® .
Background: Self-care refers to the ability that an individual has or develops to regulate the functioning of the body. Health status and age are factors associated with dependency on, and the need for, someone else to take over self-care. In the present case, there was a self-care deficit.

Objective: To develop and validate an educational video on first aid for choking incidents in children in the school environment.
Method: Methodological study, conducted between 2021 and 2022, in six stages: search for themes through interviews with 13 teachers and staff members who work in early childhood education in Niterói; theoretical study; development of the video; validation with 17 expert judges; video adaptation and validation with 17 teachers and staff. The interviews were analyzed using the Iramuteq software and the validation through the concordance index, with a desirable value of 70%.

to analyze the educational demands of family members of children with special health care needs in the transition from hospital to home Methods: qualitative research conducted between February and June 2018, using the handbook on creativity and sensitivity dynamics, from the sensitive creative method; the participants were nine family caregivers of children admitted to a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro; the data were subjected to French discourse analysis Results: the educational demands were clinical, centered on the categories complex and continuous care, technological care, modified habits, medication, development and mixed care, and social, related to the supplies and rights of children Final Considerations: the social educational demand has emerged as a new demand to be incorporated in the care of these children. The transition from hospital to home should be progressive and have the nurse as its coordinator, with the objective of providing participatory, safe, quality care, articulated within a social network.

Objective: to analyze the process of empowerment of the mothers of children hospitalized in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) according to Cheryl H. Gibson's framework.
Method: a qualitative study with a non-directive interview in groups was carried out with 14 mothers in the PICU of a pediatric teaching hospital in the state of Rio de Janeiro, whose data were submitted to thematic analysis.

Objective: report the experience of applying the theoretical data saturation technique in qualitative research with schoolchildren.
Method: critical reading of primary sources and compilation of raw data, followed by thematic grouping through colorimetric codification and allocation of themes/types of statements in charts to find theoretical saturation for each grouping.
Results: colorimetric codification occurred according to previously established themes: bodily hydration; physical activities and play; handling of sickle-cell disease; feeding and clothing.
Objective: To identify and understand the view of students regarding palliative care in paediatric oncology during a graduate programme.
Methods: Exploratory research with a qualitative approach conducted in a school of nursing in Rio de Janeiro. Data were collected from September to November 2014, through semi-structured interviews with 20 students enrolled in the last period of a graduate programme.

This study aimed to identify the (in)visibility of nursing care and discuss ways of (dis)articulating this care with family care in the social network of children with special healthcare needs. A qualitative research was performed with health professionals at a pediatric hospital, four units of the Family Medical Program (FMP), and children's relatives living in Niterói (RJ). The field work was put in practice after IRB approval (HESFA/EEAN), consisting of five semi-structured interviews and two group dynamics.
