Background: Incorporation of umbilical artery Doppler in the surveillance of fetal growth restriction has been shown to reduce the risk of perinatal deaths. Systole/Diastole ratio, Pulsatility Index and Resistance Index are obtained upon Doppler interrogation of the umbilical artery however it is unknown which index predicts more advanced stages of placental deterioration.

Objective: This study aimed to examine risk factors for the development of absent or reversed end-diastolic velocity and the time intervals of deterioration from normal umbilical artery end-diastolic velocity (indicated by systole/diastole ratio, pulsatility index, or resistance index) to decreased and absent or reversed end-diastolic velocity in fetuses with early-onset severe fetal growth restriction.

Our study sought to evaluate the prevalence of binge drinking in adolescents and its association with density of alcohol outlets around schools. This cross-sectional study was conducted in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, with 436 high-school students aged between 17 and 19 and enrolled in 18 public and private schools. The students completed the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT-C), consisting of questions about alcohol consumption by parents and siblings, and socioeconomic status (type of school, mother's education level).

Adolescence is characterized by heightened susceptibility to peer influence, which makes adolescents vulnerable to initiating or maintaining risky habits such as heavy drinking. The aim of the study was to investigate the association of social capital with longitudinal changes in the frequency of binge drinking among adolescents at public and private high schools in the city of Diamantina, Brazil.
