Due to the rapid advance of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, several countries perceived that human and material resources would be insufficient to meet the demand of infected patients. The aim of this study is to analyze the knowledge of health professionals working in the pandemic about the application of ethical criteria in decision-making in situations of resource scarcity. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative survey study, conducted from June to December 2020, with health professionals working in the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: An integrated care network between emergency, specialized and primary care services can prevent repeated hospitalizations and the institutionalized death of terminally ill patients in palliative care (PC). To identify the perception of health professionals regarding the concept of PC and their care experiences with this type of patient in a pre-hospital care (PHC) service in Brazil.
Methods: Study with a qualitative approach, of interpretative nature, based on the perspective of Ricoeur's Dialectical Hermeneutics.
Objectives: To determine the main changes that took place in the daily lives of students in the health area during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, carried out from May to June 2020, with 1786 students over 18 years old, regularly enrolled in health courses at higher education institutions in five regions of Brazil. Sampling was by convenience, typified as snowball.
Objective: Evaluate the effects of clown activities on quality of life, depression, stress, anxiety, aid, and social support in patients eligible for palliative care (PC) attended in Primary Health Care (PHC).
Method: A quasi-experimental study, with pre-intervention and post-intervention evaluation, carried out with 16 patients eligible for early PC in PHC in a Midwestern city. Patients received 24 visits with home-based clown activities.
We aimed to evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on the surface cleaning and disinfection of an emergency room. This is an interventional, prospective, longitudinal, analytical and comparative study. Data collection consisted of three stages (Stage 1-baseline, Stage 2-intervention and immediate assessment, Stage 3-long term assessment).

Method: A correlational cross-sectional study carried out with patients treated in six primary health care units. Data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis, tests for differences between averages and medians, and correlation tests.
Objective: The study aimed to understand the health of student experiences to participate in interdisciplinary discussions in bioethics and know the contributions of interdisciplinary methodological resource for the teaching-learning process at graduation.
Methods: Descriptive study of qualitative approach in a public higher education institution of Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Results: Three categories of analysis were identified: ''active methodologies in the training of a professional critic,'' ''interdisciplinary debate as facilitator reflection of bioethics'' and ''feelings and attitudes caused by the interdisciplinary debate.
Objective: Assess the need for incorporation of palliative care in primary health care (PHC) through the characterization of users eligible for this type of care, enrolled in a program for devices dispensing.
Methods: Descriptive study of case series conducted in 14 health units in São Paulo (Brazil) in 2012. It was included medical records of those enrolled in a program for users with urinary and fecal incontinence, and it was applied Karnofsky Performance Scale Index (KPS) to identify the indication of palliative care.
Objective: Identifying the contribution of using films in the process of teaching-learning in bioethics and verifying the facilities and difficulties in using this teaching resource.
Methodology: A qualitative study analyzed from the Bardin referential. Semi-structured interviews were carried out, recorded, and transcribed in full.
The education of ethics and bioethics in schools of nursing in Brazil has presented strictly conceptual and deontological approaches, which often bear little relation to future professional practice. So the goal of this study was to present a proposal for teaching of ethics and bioethics in the integrated curriculum in undergraduate nursing Federal University of São João Del Rei, MG, Brazil. The results show that the content is provided in all units curriculum of the course covering the classical dilemma in the practice of care in all stages of the life cycle.
