We aimed to investigate the effects of high doses of nandrolone decanoate and resistance training (RT) on the proteomic profile of the left ventricle (LV) of rats, using a label-free quantitative approach. Male rats were randomized into four groups: untrained vehicle (UTV), trained vehicle (TV), untrained nandrolone (UTN), and trained nandrolone (TN). Rats were familiarized with the exercise training protocol (jump exercise) for one week.

The CMS protocol consists of the random, intermittent, and unpredictable exposure of laboratory animals to a variety of stressors, during 3 consecutive weeks. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that exposure to the CMS protocol leads to left ventricle microcirculatory remodeling that can be attenuated by angiotensin II receptor blockade.

Methods: This retrospective cohort analysis involved data from 305 kidney transplant recipients participating in 3 randomized trials receiving reduced dose cyclosporin A (CsA) combined with EVR 0.75 mg BID (CSA/EVR0.
Unlabelled: Renal transplant is the best treatment for patients with chronical kidney disease however acute graft rejection is the major impediment to success in renal transplantation leading to loss of the organ the first year after transplantation. The aim of this study was to identify plasma proteins that may be early biomarkers of acute rejection of renal allograft, developing a diagnostic model that avoids the loss of the transplanted organ. Shotgun proteomics (LC-MS/MS) method was used to analyze a set of thirty-one plasma samples, including 06 from patients with acute graft rejection after transplantation (rejection group/Rej-group) and twenty-five from renal transplant patients with stable renal graft function (control group/Ct-group).

However, high intensity, volume and/or frequency may lead to injury and other health issues such as adverse cardiac effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of RT on left ventricle proteome, and to identify the pathways involved on the harmful adaptations induced by this protocol.

As expected, T3 treatment caused a generalized decrease in the areal bone mineral density (aBMD) of WT mice (determined by DEXA), followed by deleterious effects on the trabecular and cortical bone microstructural parameters (determined by μCT) of the femur and vertebra and on the biomechanical properties (maximum load, ultimate load, and stiffness) of the femur. Surprisingly, α(2A/2C)-AR(-/-) mice were resistant to most of these T3-induced negative effects.

Impairment of these mechanisms has been associated with the metabolic disturbances involved in the pathogenesis of obesity. Since rodent species constitute important models for metabolism studies and the rat hypothalamus is poorly characterized by proteomic strategies, we performed experiments aimed at constructing a two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) profile of rat hypothalamus proteins.

In this study we investigated how chronic kidney disease (CKD) modulates RAS components in an experimental model. Male Wistar rats were divided into three groups: sham, nephrectomized, and nephrectomized receiving losartan.

Methods: We made use of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight analysis to evaluate chemotoxicity effects of cisplatin (CPT) and carboplatin (CB) on proteins from human renal proximal tubule epithelial cells (HK-2).
Results: Tandem mass spectrometry analysis showed that ATP synthase subunit α and serine hydroxymethyltransferase were only expressed in HK-2 cells exposed to CPT.
