We report a rare case of recurrent isolated internal ophthalmoplegia attributed to oculomotor nerve (CN III) compression by the posterior cerebral artery (PCA). A 30-year-old female patient presented with recurrent right-sided headaches, right periorbital pain, and slight anisocoria. Slit-lamp examination revealed normal anterior and posterior segments except for vermiform movements of the right pupil with a temporal hyporeactive flat area.

Purpose: We investigated intraoperative OCT (iOCT)-guided epiretinal membrane (ERM) and internal limiting membrane (ILM) removal using a novel forceps with a laser-ablated tip surface; it was designed to help prevent indentation force, shear stress, or tractional trauma when grasping very fine membranes.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included patients who underwent 23- and 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for vitreoretinal interface disorders. ERM and ILM peeling was performed under guidance with microscope-integrated iOCT using novel ILM forceps with laser-ablated tip surfaces.

Purpose: To evaluate dual-energy CT (DE) and dedicated metal artifact reduction algorithms (iMAR) during CT-guided biopsy in comparison to single-energy CT (SE).

Methods: A trocar was placed in the liver of six pigs. CT acquisitions were performed with SE and dose equivalent DE at four dose levels(1.

The potential toxicity of nanoparticles has currently provoked public and scientific discussions, and attempts to develop generally accepted handling procedures for nanoparticles are under way. The investigation of the impact of nanoparticles on human health is overdue and reliable test systems accounting for the special properties of nanomaterials must be developed. Nanoparticular zinc oxide (ZnO) may be internalised through ambient air or the topical application of cosmetics, only to name a few, with unpredictable health effects.

Multicomponent particles have emerged in recent years as new compartmentalized colloids with two sides of different chemistry or polarity that have opened up a wide field of unique applications in medicine, biochemistry, optics, physics and chemistry. A drawback of particles containing a ZnO hemisphere is their low stability in biological environment due to the amphoteric properties of Zn. Therefore we have synthesized monodisperse Au@ZnO Janus particles by seed-mediated nucleation and growth whose ZnO domain was coated selectively with a thin SiO layer as a protection from the surrounding environment that imparts stability in aqueous media while the Au domain remained untouched.

Unlabelled: Irradiation resistance is a major obstacle of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) therapy, limiting treatment success and patient survival. The aim of our experiments was to identify irradiation-regulated proteins as potential drug targets. Two established HNSCC cell lines (HNSCCUM-01T and HNSCCUM-02T) were treated with a single 8Gy (Gray) fraction of irradiation.
