Association between Antidepressants and Fall-Related Injuries among Long-Term Care Residents.

Objectives: Antidepressants are associated with an increased risk of falls although little is known of the comparative risks of different types of antidepressants or individuals who are at greatest risk for falls. We examined the association between new use of antidepressants and fall-related injuries among older adults in long-term care (LTC).

Design, Setting, Participants: This was a matched, retrospective cohort study involving LTC residents in Ontario, Canada, from 2008 to 2014.

Meta-analysis of problem solving therapy for the treatment of major depressive disorder in older adults.

Objective: Major depressive disorder (MDD) affects many older adults and is associated with poor medical and mental health outcomes. Problem Solving Therapy (PST) has emerged as a promising psychotherapy for MDD in older adults, although the efficacy of PST in this population has not been well described. We examined the effectiveness of PST for the treatment of MDD in older adults in a systematic review and meta-analysis.
