Lived experience of dietary change among Chinese colorectal cancer survivors in Hong Kong: A qualitative study.

Objectives: This is a qualitative study which aims to understand the lived experience of dietary changes among Chinese survivors of colorectal cancer who participated in a dietary intervention.

Setting: The surgical and oncological departments of four public hospitals in Hong Kong.

Participants: Fifty-five Chinese colorectal cancer survivors who were aged 18 years or above and had received potentially curative treatment in the surgical and oncological departments in Hong Kong were examined.

Muir-Torre Syndrome in a Middle-Aged Chinese Patient with Sebaceous Carcinoma of the Eyelid.

Muir-Torre syndrome is a rare, autosomal dominant condition characterized by the presence of a skin tumor of sebaceous differentiation and visceral malignancies. We reviewed the case of a 46-year-old Chinese man who had a bleeding mass over the right upper eyelid. He had a history of colon cancer and a family history satisfying the Amsterdam criteria for hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer syndrome with germline mutation in the MutS homolog-2 gene.

Hope-based intervention for individuals susceptible to colorectal cancer: a pilot study.

Individuals undergoing genetic testing for hereditary colorectal cancer (HCRC) are prone to develop psychological problems. This study investigated the short-term efficacy of a hope-based intervention program in increasing hope levels and decreasing psychopathology among HCRC genetic testing recipients. A longitudinal study was carried out on HCRC genetic testing recipients recruited by the Hereditary Gastrointestinal Cancer Registry.

Early outcomes of surgery for small bowel obstruction: analysis of risk factors.

Objectives: The study aimed to review the etiologies of patients who underwent surgery for small bowel obstruction (SBO) and to evaluate the risk factors affecting the early postoperative outcomes.

Materials And Methods: A case series of 430 patients (252 men) with a mean age of 64.5 years, who underwent 437 operations for SBO, were retrospectively reviewed.

Value of gastrografin in adhesive small bowel obstruction after unsuccessful conservative treatment: a prospective evaluation.

Aim: Gastrografin is a hyperosmolar water-soluble contrast medium. Besides its predictive value for the need for operative treatment, a potential therapeutic role of this agent in adhesive small bowel obstruction has been suggested. This study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of gastrografin in adhesive small bowel obstruction when conservative treatment failed.
