Introduction: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) is effective and safe in benign and malignant indications. However, there is a paucity of literature on the outcomes of these patients. Our study evaluates the long-term outcomes of patients who underwent EUS-GE and stent-related adverse events (AEs).

The 2 types of EUS-PDD are EUS-assisted pancreatic rendezvous (EUS-PRV) and EUS-guided pancreaticogastrostomy (EUS-PG). EUS-PRV should be considered in patients with accessible papilla or anastomosis, while EUS-PG is a comparable alternative in surgically altered foregut anatomy.

Background: EUS-GBD has become one of the first-line alternatives for gallbladder decompression, with outcomes and safety profiles comparable to that of percutaneous gallbladder drainage. However, the long-term outcomes of EUS-GBD are not well-described.

Fluid collections after abdominal surgeries, particularly pancreatic surgeries, are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Up until recently, percutaneous drainage was the first line therapy, but not without disadvantages, including high maintenance, risk of infection and chronic fistulas, electrolyte losses, and impact on quality of life. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage of post-surgical fluid collections (PSFCs) is safe and effective, carrying similar success, adverse event (AE), and recurrence rates as percutaneous drainage.

The aim of this study was to identify novel targets involved in the dysregulation of IL-6 expression by CAFs in colon cancer.
Methods: Colonic normal (N), hyperplastic, tubular adenoma, adenocarcinoma tissues, and tissue-derived myo-/fibroblasts (MFs) were used in these studies.
Background: Most patients in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) have anemia and undergo extensive diagnostic laboratory testing (DLT). Consequently, patients undergo RBC transfusion, and many are discharged with anemia, both of which are associated with poorer outcomes.
Objective: To characterize DLT blood loss in the SICU.
Arterio-enteric fistulas involving pancreas allograft are rare complications of transplantation that manifest as gastrointestinal bleeding. We discuss the case of a 34-year-old patient with failed pancreas transplant who presented with recurrent sentinel bleeding before catastrophic hemorrhage. Multiple endoscopies did not identify the source of bleeding, and subsequent angiography demonstrated a fistulous connection between the transplanted pancreatic artery and the small bowel.

We present a 66-year-old man with an unusual presentation of multiple myeloma. He presented with chronic diarrhea, and extensive biopsies in the jejunum allowed for the presumptive diagnosis of multiple myeloma to be made and the weighted decision to treat without a definitive diagnosis.

Heller myotomy (HM) and pneumatic dilation are two established treatments for achalasia. Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) has become a third definitive option and is on the rise.

We aimed to assess the prevalence, spectrum, severity, and significance of digestive manifestations in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
Methods: Consecutive patients hospitalized with COVID-19 were identified across a geographically diverse alliance of medical centers in North America.
Desialylation of platelets results in platelet clearance by the Ashwell-Morrell Receptors (AMR) found on hepatocytes. Studies suggest that oseltamivir phosphate inhibits human sialidases, enzymes responsible for desialylation, extending the lifespan of circulating platelets. We thus evaluated, the effects of oseltamivir on platelet count (PC) following treatment.

National and international guidelines recommend that a cholecystectomy should be performed during the index hospitalization for acute gallstone pancreatitis. We aimed to delineate the national trends for same-admission cholecystectomy and ERCP for acute gallstone pancreatitis over the last ten years.

It is characterized by a change in the gastric mucosa to a small-intestinal phenotype. Infection with Helicobacter pylori is the most common factor associated with GIM.

Previous reports have shown that appropriate nutritional supplementation reduce short and long-term mortality in patients with AAH. Despite these clear recommendations, the element of nutrition in AAH is often neglected.

Vedolizumab is a new humanized monoclonal antibody that has been reserved for those with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis who have failed immunomodulator and TNF-α antagonist therapy, and for those who have an increased risk for developing progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. Because it targets gastrointestinal tract-specific lymphocytes, meta-analyses and integrated studies have shown that vedolizumab causes fewer extraintestinal adverse effects, such as opportunistic infections and malignancies, compared with anti-TNF therapies. We present the case of a patient who developed an ovarian teratoma after initiation of vedolizumab therapy.
