Objective: To investigate differences in arterial involvement patterns on F-FDG PET-CT between predominant cranial and isolated extracranial phenotypes of giant cell arteritis (GCA).

Methods: A retrospective review of F-FDG PET-CT findings was conducted on 140 patients with confirmed GCA. The patients were divided into two groups: the cranial group, which presented craniofacial ischemic symptoms either at diagnosis or during follow-up, and the isolated extracranial group which never exhibited such manifestations.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the effectiveness and safety of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) for treating rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD), an area with limited therapeutic options.
  • It included a systematic review of literature and meta-analysis of data from seven observational studies and found that JAKi improved lung function and imaging results in patients with RA-ILD.
  • The results indicated that JAKi were generally well tolerated, with a low risk of developing new ILD, and showed similar safety and efficacy to existing treatments like abatacept and rituximab.

Article Synopsis
  • Non-infectious inflammatory ocular diseases can be challenging to diagnose and manage, often requiring systemic immunosuppressive therapy; JAK inhibitors may offer a new treatment approach.
  • A study with 12 patients showed that systemic diseases were present in 67% of cases, and various JAK inhibitors were administered, with an average treatment duration of 8.6 months.
  • Results indicated complete ocular disease control in all patients after treatment, with a significant reduction in the incidence of ocular flares, confirming the efficacy and safety of JAK inhibitors for these conditions.

Objective: The search for new glucocorticoid-sparing disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs continues to be an unmet need in large vessel vasculitis (LVV). This report aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of leflunomide (LEF) in Takayasu arteritis (TA) and giant cell arteritis (GCA).

Methods: We systematically reviewed the literature, searching for studies evaluating the efficacy of LEF in LVV.
