Background: Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the fifth most common cancer in the developed world. Delineation of differentiation subtypes in UC highlighted the importance of aberrant differentiation. Understanding underlying mechanisms may facilitate diagnosis and development of efficient therapy strategies.
