Background And Purpose:

Pain intensity is the most frequently assessed health domain in clinical studies among patients with low-back pain. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and Numeric rating scale (NRS) have been the mostly used measurement tools for pain intensity. We proposed to correlate these instruments to a generic health-related quality of life measurement tool in order to show the scale with superior clinical relevance.

Objective: We aim to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Hungarian version of the patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS)-29 profile domains among patients with chronic low back pain.

Background: The deleterious effect of primary headaches on the sufferers' quality of life (QOL) has been abundantly documented using both generic and headache-specific instruments. The currently used questionnaires focus on a limited number of factors and therefore may not be sensitive enough to detect the effect of headache type and headache characteristics on QOL, despite the obvious clinical differences. We have devised a comprehensive questionnaire that may be more sensitive to the burden of headache.

The presence of premonitory symptoms in about 20% of patients suggest that the migraine attack is initiated long before the occurrence of the aura or headache symptoms. Recording of evoked and event-related potentials has revealed a strong intensity dependence of auditory evoked potentials (IDAP) in migraine with and without aura. We studied changes in IDAP in the peri-ictal period in 63 migraine patients (55 presenting migraine without aura, four migraine with aura, and four both types) and compared findings with interictal controls.

According to its mission statement, one of the goals of the European Headache Federation (EHF) is to "educate Europe" about headache through the teaching of the key health personnel, such as young physicians and all those involved in headache management, about the seriousness of headache disorders. The countries of Europe share a close geographical proximity that facilitates international exchanges, particularly between university faculties. In recent years, this has, indeed, been the working basis of European educational endeavours in the field of headache.
