The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the ithmid kohl/zinc-oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs), ithmid kohl/Aloe vera, and ZnONPs/Aloe vera in the treatment of bacterial endophthalmitis. The endophthalmitis model was prepared by contaminating both eyes of 24 healthy adult male albino rabbits with a clinical isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae. The animals were randomly divided into eight groups (A-H) according to the treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study assessed antibiotic resistance and the presence of carbapenemase genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae from various clinical samples in Tabriz, Iran, revealing a high overall resistance rate, particularly to ampicillin.
  • - Out of 100 collected isolates, 25.0% were found to be resistant to carbapenems, with higher prevalence of specific carbapenemase genes noted, including bla at 18.0%.
  • - Results indicated that while carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae was less prevalent in northwestern Iran compared to other regions, there's a need for careful antibiotic use to mitigate the risk of escalating antibiotic resistance.
