Clinical Neuroscience Research in Saudi Arabia: A Comparative Evaluation of Performance at Country and Worldwide Levels Based on the Relative Specialization Index.

This review is an appraisal of the performance of clinical neuroscience research in Saudi Arabia based on the measurement of the Relative Specialization Index (RSI). The latter is an established quantitative performance indicator that determines whether a country has a relatively higher or lower share in world publications in a specialty than its overall part in the world total publications. The study aimed to assess the trends in the specialty's RSI, comparing it to other medical specialties in Saudi Arabia and to that of the top 50 countries worldwide in clinical neuroscience.

Bibliometric Research in Neurosurgery: A Review of the 50 Most Cited Bibliometric Publications in the Neurosurgical Literature.

Bibliometry is a popular research method that is used to explore and analyze large volumes of data in an effort to highlight trends, patterns, and impacts within a specific field. This review aimed at highlighting the characteristics and citation patterns of the high-impact bibliometric research studies that were published in the neurosurgical literature. Using PubMed and Google Scholar, the 50 (52 due to identical citation numbers for the lowest three articles) most cited bibliometric research publications were identified and reviewed.

Survey Research Among Neurosurgeons: A Bibliometric Review of the Characteristics, Quality, and Citation Predictors of the Top 50 Most-Influential Publications in the Neurosurgical Literature.

Survey research enables the gathering of information on individual perspectives in a large cohort. It can be epidemiological, attitude or knowledge focussed. Assessment of survey studies sampling neurosurgeons is currently lacking in the literature.
