An electron donor-acceptor complex was utilized to generate alkoxy radicals from alcohols under mild conditions using visible light. This approach was combined with a hydroxybromination process to achieve the deconstructive functionalization of alkenes, leading to the production of geminal dibromides. Mechanistic investigations indicated the intermediacy of hypervalent iodine (III) compounds.

In this paper, a new acidizing corrosion inhibitor was designed, which was mainly composed of Mannich base and antimony salt. The inorganic substance in the corrosion inhibitor had good stability at high temperatures and could quickly form a complex with the metal matrix to enhance the binding ability.

To obtain enhanced performance of electromagnetic wave absorption, the elaborate design of structures for carbon materials has become essential. In this work, the nitrogen-doped and large diameter carbon nanotubes modified with cobalt nanoparticles (M-Co/C-CNTs) composites were successfully prepared by adsorption and carbonization of the gases generated by organic matter pyrolysis.

The influence of NaCl concentration on microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) of Q235 carbon steel by the halophilic archaeon Natronorubrum tibetense was investigated by immersion tests and electrochemical measurements. An increase in NaCl concentration from 0 g/mL to 0.1 g/mL promoted the anodic dissolution of carbon steel and accelerated its corrosion, but MIC did not occur.

Results show that PDHDB always has a better inhibition performance relative to PDDB, which can be attributed to the introduction of hydroxyl groups at the hydrophilic headgroups, thereby causing an extra interaction between inhibitors and the metal surface and favoring its adsorption.

The angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) catalyzes the degradation of Angiotensin II (Ang II) to generate Angiotensin-(1-7), which reduces inflammation and oxidative stress stimulated by Ang II. ACE2 has been shown to be protective in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases including diabetes and its complications. However, the challenge for its clinical application is large-scale production of high-quality ACE2 with sufficient target tissue bioavailability.
