Trivalent chromium (Cr) is an attractive near-infrared (NIR) emitter, but its ultrabroadband NIR emission is limited to host crystals containing large amounts of rare-metal elements and usually suffers from low internal quantum efficiency (IQE) and poor thermal stability. Here, a class of high-performance, rare-metal-free ultrabroadband NIR phosphors, are reported by revealing that weak-field Cr centers featuring broadband NIR emission with near-unity IQEs are intrinsic, though in trace quantities, to Cr doped MgAlO spinel (MAS) and its derivatives well-known for their narrowband far-red emission. It is shown that such weak-field Cr centers stem from cation inversion ubiquitous in spinel compounds, and their quantity can be increased simply by superstoichiometric AlO/GaO.

Developing high-performance, broad-spectrum ultraviolet photodetectors (PDs) with uniform response is crucial for optoelectronic applications like spectral analysis, optoelectronic logic gates, and multispectral imaging. This study constructs n-n type β-GaO:Si/GaN:Si heterojunction PDs using thermal oxidation, combining the advantages of β-GaO:Si and GaN:Si for excellent broad-spectrum response (UV-A to UV-C). A proposed channel model for GaN:Si oxidation includes hole formation, vortex structure development, channel formation, and grain growth, providing a basis for understanding β-GaO:Si/GaN:Si heterojunction formation.

Rural drinking water often suffers from unpleasant odors like dimethyl sulfide (DMDS) and dimethyl trisulfide (DMTS) due to poor raw water quality and limited treatment options. This study introduces durable chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) biochar aerogels-supported bioflims in ultrafiltration (BAB-UF) reactors, where the incorporation of PVA significantly enhances structural integrity, biodegradation resistance, and functional lifespan, providing an efficient, sustainable solution for removing odorous compounds from rural water. Experimental results showed the enhanced chitosan/PVA porous biochar aerogels (CPPCA) displayed excellent biocapacity and structural stability.

Cyclin G2 (CCNG2), a known inhibitor of cell cycle progression, has been identified as a suppressor for the canonical β-catenin pathway. This study explores the impact of CCNG2 on β-catenin activity and malignant characteristics of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells, and the mechanism behind CCNG2 dysregulation. In ESCC tissues and cells, CCNG2 was under-expressed and associated with poor clinical outcomes, whereas β-catenin showed an opposite trend.

Methods: This population-based prospective cohort study analyzed data of participants aged 20-79 years in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2005 to 2018, with linked mortality information until 2019. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) for the association between different cardiovascular health (CVH) scores and all-cause mortality in participants with MASLD.

Accumulating evidences have proved Arenobufagin (ArBu) exhibited cytotoxic effects to multiple types of cancer.
