FeOOH with excellent catalytic properties for oxygen evolution and also considered to be a true active site has attracted great interest in recent years. However, the intrinsic low conductivity limits its catalytic performance. Herein, a one-dimensional core-shell NiMoO4/FeOOH heterojunction with high OER activity and stability was developed.

Background: The relationship between the partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2) and the prognosis of sepsis patients, and its potential variation over time, remains unclear. The optimal PaO2 range for sepsis patients has always been a contentious issue, with no consensus. We aimed to explore the association between different levels of PaO2 exposure over time and the 28-day mortality of sepsis patients, and to identify the optimal PaO2 range for sepsis patients within a specific time frame.

An unusual C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, norcrohalane A (1), a new nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid, norcrolasane A (2), along with four known compounds (3-6) were isolated from the roots of Croton crassifolius. Compound 1 represents the first example of a C15nor-halimane-type diterpenoid, which features a rare 6/6/6 tricyclic ring system, and the A ring is aromatic. Compound 2 is a rare nor-lasserane-type sesquiterpenoid.

Deep mucosal and organ infections caused by the infestation of Candida albicans(C.albicans) in immunocompromised patients represent a significant cause of mortality in hospitalised patients. The rise in fungal resistance is a consequence of the overuse of antibiotics.

The integration of the second material with unique properties into original material to fabricate heterostructure represents an effective strategy to enhance photocatalytic H2 evolution. Herein, we synthesized a MoS2/ZnIn2S4 heterostructured photocatalyst using a two-step hydrothermal method. The resulting MoS2/ZnIn2S4 displayed the flower-like morphology formed by staked nanosheets, significantly accelerating photocatalytic H2 evolution performance.

Among the various studies on CO2 utilization, the sustainable and cost-effective fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates remains one of the most intriguing subjects. To this end, a novel type of  composite dicationic ionic liquid material, DIL@PDIL, was developed. This composite consists of a dicationic ionic liquid (DIL), DMAP[TMGH]Br, supported on a polymeric dicationic ionic liquid (PDIL), P-DVB/Im[TMGH]Br.

Small molecules with an acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) structure, featuring a fused-ring core as the donor and two electron-withdrawing end groups as acceptor units, represent a potential option for NIR-II fluorophores, benefiting from their narrow bandgaps, superior light-harvesting capabilities, and exceptional photostabilities. However, their planar conformations predispose them to forming H-aggregates during self-assembly, leading to significantly reduced fluorescence quantum yield (QY) of the resulting nanofluorophores. Herein, we report a small molecule, PF8CN, with a terminal unit-A-D-A-terminal unit structure.

Although Pb-based metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have excellent photoelectric characteristics, their toxicity remains a limiting factor for their widespread application. In the paper, a series of CsCuClxBr3-x (x = 1, 2, 3) MHP microcrystals were developed and their hydrogen evolution performance in ethanol and HX (X = Cl, Br) was also studied. Among them, CsCuCl3 microcrystals exhibit high hydrogen evolution performance in both HX and ethanol, attributed to their longest average lifetime and suitable band structure.

Photonic simulators are increasingly used to study physical systems for their affluent manipulable degrees of freedom. The advent of photonic chips offers a promising path towards compact and configurable simulators. Thin-film lithium niobate chips are particularly well suited for this purpose due to the high electro-optic coefficient, which allows for the creation of lattices in the frequency domain.

While sugar-containing natural products are commonly biosynthesized via glycosyltranferases using sugar-UDP as the electrophile, nature has evolved alternative strategies of glyco-modification to expand the diversity of natural products. Hydroxyl groups on sugars can serve as nucleophiles in the release of polyketide products from polyketide synthases. Herein, we demonstrate a highly reducing polyketide synthase (HRPKS) from the biocontrol fungus Trichoderma afroharzianum T22, which is terminated with a carnitine acyltransferase (cAT) domain, catalyzes the biosynthesis of a d-galactose esterified polyketide named as trichogalactin.

It is of great significance to develop catalysts for the degradation of hexachlorobenzene from the industrial thermal process. In this paper, formic acid was used as a modulator to generate defect sites in Ce/Zr-UiO-66 with intrinsic Brønsted acidity. The defective formate ligands were removed through methanol-water vapor treatment to expose additional open metal sites with Lewis acidity.

Nanobodies are promising for immunoPET imaging due to their excellent antigen recognition and tumor targeting, yet rapid clearance limits their tumor accumulation. Although multimerization and albumin binding can extend their circulation time and improve tumor targeting, a simple and universal method for creating protein multimers is still needed. Here, we leveraged the facile synthesis, controllable size, and precise assembly of DNA nanotechnology to construct CD47-targeted framework nucleic acid-nanobody fusion probes with multiple valences and sizes.

The negative impact of agricultural land on biodiversity is widely recognized. However, there remains a knowledge gap regarding the role of different crop types in maintaining biodiversity within the agricultural landscape. By extracting biodiversity data from global datasets and classifying different crop types, we quantified the contribution of different crop types to biodiversity.

Hormones are effective in regulating plant metabolism and, therefore, are often used in plant cell culture to increase the yield of target products. This study investigated the effects of hormones on the growth and anthocyanin biosynthesis of suspension-cultured red Cyclocarya paliurus cells. Additionally, the mechanism by which gibberellin induces anthocyanin biosynthesis was explored through multi-omics integrated analysis and the assay of the dynamic changes in signaling molecule concentration.

Quantifying the mechanical properties of coronary arterial walls could provide meaningful information for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of coronary artery diseases. Since patient-specific coronary samples are not available for patients requiring continuous monitoring, direct experimental testing of vessel material properties becomes impossible. Current coronary models typically use material parameters from available literature, leading to significant mechanical stress/strain calculation errors.

2D transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) semiconductors represent the most promising channel materials for post-silicon microelectronics due to their unique structure and electronic properties. However, it remains challenging to synthesize wide-bandgap TMDCs monolayers featuring large areas and high performance simultaneously. Herein, highly oriented WS monolayers are reproducibly synthesized through a templated growth strategy on vicinal C/A-plane sapphire wafers.

The alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER) mainly encompasses four elementary reactions, involving intermediates such as HO*, O*, and HOO*. Balancing the Gibbs free energies of these intermediates at a single active site is a challenging task. In this work, a high-entropy metal-organic framework incorporating Fe, Ni, Co, Cu, and Y metal elements is synthesized using an electrodeposition method, which then serves as a template for preparing a high-entropy phosphide/carbon (FeCoNiCuYP/C) composite.

Cisplatin is widely used in clinical cancer treatment; however, its application is often hindered by severe side effects, particularly inherent or acquired resistance of target cells. To address these challenges, an effective strategy is to modify the metal core of the complex and introduce alternative coordination modes or valence states, leading to the development of a series of metal complexes, such as platinum (IV) prodrugs and cyclometalated complexes. Recent advances in nanotechnology have facilitated the development of multifunctional nanomaterials that can selectively deliver drugs to tumor cells, thereby overcoming the pharmacological limitations of metal-based drugs.
