Article Synopsis
  • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a serious blood cancer that is hard to treat because it weakens the immune system.
  • Researchers found that a protein called S100A4 makes this problem worse in AML patients, and high levels of S100A4 were linked to poorer survival rates.
  • S100A4 not only helps cancer cells avoid the immune system but also makes it harder for patients to respond to chemotherapy, so knowing about this protein can help doctors decide the best treatment for AML.

RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) readers mediate cancer progression. However, the functional role and potential mechanisms of the m6A readers in prostate cancer tumorigenicity remain to be elucidated. In this study, we demonstrate that YTHDF3 expression is elevated in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and positively correlated to high grade, bone metastasis and poor survival.

Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) is a ubiquitous environmental pollutant which mainly exposed though diet. High-fat diet (HFD) can induce atherosclerosis, as can BaP. Unhealthy dietary habits lead to high intake of both BaP and lipids.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common hematopoietic malignancy with abnormal lipid metabolism. However, currently available information on the involvement of the alterations in lipid metabolism in AML development is limited. In this study, we demonstrate that FABP5 expression facilitates AML cell viability, protects AML cells from apoptosis, and maintains triglyceride production.

Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is very common haematopoietic malignancies with poor prognosis. Chemotherapy is still a mainstay therapy for AML patients. AML microenvironment plays critical roles in therapy response.

Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) causes atherosclerosis by activating the aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) signaling pathway to trigger lipid peroxidation and inflammation, thereby promoting the development of atherosclerosis. Hesperidin (Hsd), one of the 60 flavonoids of citrus, exhibits therapeutic effects on atherosclerosis. However, its antagonistic function for BaP remains unclear.

The liver is sensitive to aging because the risk of hepatopathy, including fatty liver, hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, increases dramatically with age. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are >200 nucleotides long and affect many pathological and physiological processes. A potential link was recently discovered between lncRNAs and liver aging; however, comprehensive and systematic research on this topic is still limited.

Persistent inflammasome activation contributes to chronic, low grade inflammation. However, it is unclear how the inflammasome activation is sustained after initiation. Here we reported that N-acetylcytidine (N4A), a nucleoside metabolite, activated microglia and sustained NLRP3 inflammasome activation by inducing HMGB1 signaling.

Activated nucleotide binding to the oligonucleotide receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is possibly involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease through oxidative stress and neurogenic inflammation. Low expression of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) gene may promote the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases to some extent. To clarify the roles of the NLRP3 inflammasome and STAT3 expression in oxidative stress, (1) SHSY5Y cells were incubated with 1 mM HO to induce oxidative stress injury, and the expression of human-cell-specific signal transduction, STAT3-shRNA silencing signal transduction and STAT3 were detected.

To study the differences and similarities in pharmaceutical characterization and pharmacodynamic characterization between the single decoction and merger decoction of Baihu and Guizhi. The same technology parameters were used to prepare Baihu and Guizhi single decoticon and merger decoction extracts, and then the differences and similarities in pharmaceutical characterization were analyzed based on their HPLC fingerprint, content of index components, and the extraction content. The pharmacodynamic differences and similarities were analyzed by inflammatory model and pain model.
