We report two cases of biliary fascioliasis in patients from the highlands of Peru; with several months of symptoms characterized for biliary-type pain, dark urine and jaundice in one case. Both of them referred to the department of Gastroenterology of the Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen for suspicious of choledocolithiasis. Laboratory tests were performed which showed variable high levels of functional liver tests (cholestasis) and marked eosinophilia in one case.

Objective: Evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic utility, safeness, efficacy and complications of double balloon enteroscopy (DBE).

Methods: This prospective, descriptive study of DBE took place between July 2010 and November 2011 at Gastroenterology Service of Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen-EsSalud. 33 DBE were performed in 30 patients with a double balloon enteroscope: EN-450T5 Fujinon, under conscious sedation and with previous bowel preparation.

Unlabelled: Endoscopic treatment of the bile duct diseases is possible thanks to the ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography), nevertheless, it is not free of complications.

Objectives: To describe the characteristics and indications of the ERCP and determine the factors associated to the development of complications after performing the procedure.

Materials And Methods: An observational retrospective study was done in the Gastroenterology Department of the Hospital Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen in Lima, Peru, from March 2002 to June 2005.

The biochemical, clinical and histological findings are described in nine patients of the Gastroenterology Service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital - EsSALUD, with diagnosis of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) between January 1996 and April 1998.They did not have significant differences in relation to sex prevalence (5 males and 4 women). Five patients were obese, 2 patients had diabetes mellitus, 5 hyperlipidemic values and a patient was taking prednisone for more than 2 years.
