A pregnant woman in her late 20s with a history of epilepsy since childhood presented with recurrent loss of consciousness and witnessed twitching and involuntary muscle contractions. She had hyperemesis during pregnancy reporting four previous miscarriages attributed to seizures. During evaluation in cardiac telemetry and while suffering from severe nausea, the patient experienced prolonged ventricular asystole resulting in convulsive syncope and was diagnosed with cardioinhibitory malignant vasovagal syncope (CMVS).

Sexual satisfaction is an important dimension of sexual health. Despite there being evidence about its relations with sexual arousal, this association has not been addressed considering arousal as a trait and as a state. Therefore, the goal of this laboratory study was to examine, in young women with different levels of sexual satisfaction in their relationships, sexual arousal as a trait (i.

Background: The Sexual Inhibition/Sexual Excitation Scales-Short Form (SIS/SES-SF) is a brief instrument for assessing the propensity for sexual excitement and inhibition in men and women. The aim of the present study was to provide evidence for the validity and reliability of the Spanish version of the SIS/SES-SF scores by examining invariance, reliability (information function and internal consistency), the relationship between the scores and sexual functioning, and presenting its standard scores.

Method: A total of 2,223 Spanish heterosexuals (43.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of lower extremity bypass (LEB) and peripheral vascular intervention (PVI) in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), focusing on 30-day and 5-year mortality and amputation.
  • Analysis included 4,084 patients matched using 13 variables, showing that LEB had lower risks of 30-day amputation and 5-year mortality compared to PVI, regardless of CKD status.
  • The findings suggest that LEB may be a more favorable option for patients with CLTI and CKD, which could influence treatment decisions for this population.

Topological insulators (TIs) hold promise for manipulating the magnetization of a ferromagnet (FM) through the spin-orbit torque (SOT) mechanism. However, integrating TIs with conventional FMs often leads to significant device-to-device variations and a broad distribution of SOT magnitudes. In this work, we present a scalable approach to grow a full van der Waals FM/TI heterostructure by molecular beam epitaxy, combining the charge-compensated TI (Bi,Sb)Te with 2D FM FeGeTe (FGT).

The Interpersonal Exchange Model of Sexual Satisfaction proposes that sexual satisfaction can be explained by the balance of sexual rewards or costs exchange. The Interpersonal Exchange Model of Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire (IEMSSQ) was developed from this model. The IEMSSQ includes the Reward/Costs Checklist (RCC).

Objective: Provide new validity evidence of the Spanish version of the Massachusetts General Hospital-Sexual Functioning Questionnaire (MGH-SFQ) by associating its scores with measures of sexual arousal.

Method: In a sample of 48 men, using a quasi-experimental design, sexual functioning, propensity for sexual inhibition/excitation, subjective sexual arousal, and genital response (penile plethysmography recorded with Biopac MP150 equipment) were evaluated.

Results: Arousal and erection scores correlated with sexual inhibition due to the threat of performance failure ( = 29; 05) and genital response ( = 31; 05), respectively.

Background: The assessment of sexual functioning requires accurate and reliable measures as well as short and easy to apply. The Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX), which provides a quick, easy, and nonintrusive assessment of sexual functioning in men and women, is a clear example of a commonly used scale that satisfies these qualities.

Aim: The study sought to examine measurement invariance and differential item functioning (DIF) by sexual orientation of the Spanish version of the ASEX.

Specular microscopy assessment of the human corneal endothelium (CE) in Fuchs' dystrophy is challenging due to the presence of dark image regions called guttae. This paper proposes a UNet-based segmentation approach that requires minimal post-processing and achieves reliable CE morphometric assessment and guttae identification across all degrees of Fuchs' dystrophy. We cast the segmentation problem as a regression task of the cell and gutta signed distance maps instead of a pixel-level classification task as typically done with UNets.

The sexual double standard (SDS) consists of judging men and women differently for the same sexual behavior. This study contributes to research on the factors that determine inconsistent adherence to the SDS. It uses a descriptive methodology to analyze the association between individual and contextual factors both with adherence to the SDS, and with four SDS adherence typologies (man-favorable SDS, woman-favorable SDS, egalitarian and ambivalent).

Depression is a highly prevalent disorder with a wide range of symptomatology. Existing instruments for its assessment have only a few items for each factor. The Depression Clinical Evaluation Test (DCET) has been created to cover all depression symptoms at different times (month, year, and always) with several items for each facet.

Background/objective: Sexual concordance (i.e., relationship between genital response and subjective sexual arousal) is higher in men than in women.

Aim And Background: In Mexico sexual dysfunctions are a relevant problem, depression and age are the main predisposing factors. Whereby it is necessary to considerate to have valid evaluation instruments in Mexican population. The aim of the study was to examine the psychometric properties of Massachusetts General Hospital-Sexual Functioning Questionnaire (MGH-SFQ) in that population.
