Extracellular vesicles (EVs), which include small EVs such as exosomes, play a critical role in intercellular communication and are produced by both cancer and non-cancer cells. Several studies have shown that cancer cells exploit various strategies to regulate the biogenesis, composition, and functions of EVs primarily to promote cancer progression. Given that exosomes originate from major sorting hubs at the limiting membrane of endosomes, they are central to a signaling network that connects external stimuli with intrinsic tumor cell features.

Aims: This study aimed to investigate whether monocyte dysregulation and hyperinflammation serve as predictive markers for mortality in young patients with SARS-CoV-2 severe pneumonia.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in a tertiary-level public University Hospital in Colombia. Forty young adults (18-50 years of age) with severe pneumonia and SARS-CoV-2 infection confirmed by qPCR, were enrroled.

Purpose: The involvement of the circulating endothelium-derived microparticles (EMPs) and the endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) has been shown in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). The current study aimed to explore whether the Friesinger index is associated with the levels of the apoptotic CD144+/CD31+/annexin V+ EMPs and the number of endothelial colony-forming units of progenitor cells in patients undergoing coronary angiography.

Patients And Methods: Fifty-seven patients with a median age of 62 years (range: 48-84 years) were enrolled.

Background: Chronic kidney disease and inflammation promote loss of Klotho expression. Given the well-established anti-inflammatory effects of omega-3 fatty acids, we aimed to investigate the effect of fish oil supplementation in a model of CKD.

Methods: Male C57BL/6 mice received supplementation with an adenine-enriched diet (AD, = 5) or standard diet (CTL, = 5) for 10 days.

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells with abilities to exert immunosuppressive response promoting tissue repair. Studies have shown that MSCs can secrete extracellular vesicles (MVs-MSCs) with similar regulatory functions to the parental cells. Furthermore, strong evidence suggesting that MVs-MSCs can modulate several immune cells (i.
