Effectiveness and safety of new oral and injectable agents for in-hospital management of type 2 diabetes in general wards: Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Current guidelines recommend insulin alone for in-hospital management of diabetes, but growing information suggests that new oral or injectable agents may be as effective and safe.

Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis with evidence from randomized (RCT) and non-randomized (NRS) studies in PubMed, EMBASE and LILACS databases up to February 10, 2022, for studies including hospitalized type 2 diabetes patients, comparing dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors (DPP4i), sodium glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP1Ra) with insulin alone for glycemic control and safety outcomes.

Findings: 7 RCT and 3 NRTs were included.

Coronary calcium in autoimmune diseases: A systematic literature review and meta-analysis.

Background And Aims: Autoimmune diseases (AID) share various clinical signs and symptoms and pathophysiological mechanisms including the increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The coronary artery calcium score (CACS) is potentially useful in improving the cardiovascular risk assessment. The aim of this study was to evaluate CACS in six AIDs analyzed as a group compared with controls through a systematic literature review (SLR) and meta-analysis.

Updates on conservative management of endometrial cancer in patients younger than 45 years.

Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy in developed country. Women under the age of 40 represent 5% of all endometrial cancer and the majority are nulliparous at the time of diagnosis. The aim of this review was to compare oncologic and fertility outcomes among different fertility-preserving therapies in patients under 45 years of age with grade 1 or 2 endometrial cancer.

Human mesenchymal stem cells for the management of systemic sclerosis. Systematic review.

Introduction: Sistemic Sclerosis (SSc) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease with a high rate of progression and therapeutic failure, and treatment is a challenge, new therapeutic proposals being needed, being mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) considered as alternative therapy for SSc for its immunomodulatory capacity. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of human MSC (hMSC) in patients with SSc through a systematic literature review (SLR).

Methods: SLR (PRISMA guideline) on MEDLINE/OVID, LILACS, EMBASE, and Cochrane/OVID bases (until July 2020, without limits).

Background: Sjögren's Syndrome compromises the exocrine function, producing xerostomia and xerophthalmia. It can appear as an isolated condition or associated with other autoimmune diseases (polyautoimmunity). The Unstimulated Salivary Flow rate (UWSF) is used to quantify saliva production.

[Congenital syphilis incidence disparities in Colombia 2005 to 2011: an ecological study].

Objective: Syphilis is a systemic, infecto-contagious, sexually-transmitted disease caused by the spirochete bacterium Treponema pallidum. Interventions reducing congenital syphilis incidence represent two of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Diagnostic and treatment methods are available for managing congenital syphilis; even so, variations occur in seroprevalence and the number of annual cases worldwide, so the situation continues to be worrying.
