Frailty recommendations and guidelines: an evaluation of the implementability and a critical appraisal of clinical applicability by the ISPRM Frailty Focus Group.

Introduction: Aging is associated with an increased burden of multi-morbidity and disease related functional loss and disability, widely impacting patients and health care systems. Frailty is a major actor in age-related disability and is an important target for rehabilitation interventions, considering that is a reversible condition.

Evidence Acquisition: A working group of members of the ISPRM, responding to WHO 2030 call for action to strengthen rehabilitation, was established to assess the quality and implementability of the existing guidelines for the rehabilitation of frailty.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Latin America: Development and Current Status.

Disability disproportionately affects women, older individuals, and ethnic minorities in low-income countries, many of which are located in Latin America. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is the medical specialty that manages disability and works on restoring function, and over the past 6 decades has significantly expanded its importance in Latin America. The specialty has developed graduate and postgraduate educational programs, provides services to individuals of all ages in inpatient and outpatient settings, has increased its research productivity, and has become an advocate for patients with disabling conditions, which has resulted in improved access to care for many patients.

World Congresses of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine 2013-2015: the way forward - from Beijing to Berlin.

Scientific congresses are an important tool to support communication among scientists, enabling exchange of knowledge and discussion of research results. They can also provide specialist education and allow a forum in which to develop the goals and policies of scientific societies. The World Congresses of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) aims at continuous improvement of congress quality.

Disability and rehabilitation in Mexico.

Recent disability-related data are available from the 13th National Census of Population and Housing, which was performed in 2010. Disability assessment followed the recommendations of the Washington Group on Disability Statistics and identified 5,739,270 (5.1%) persons with disability, 51.

Assessment of anterior segment tumors with ultrasound biomicroscopy versus anterior segment optical coherence tomography in 200 cases.

Purpose: To compare ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) versus anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) for imaging of tumors of the anterior segment of the eye.

Design: Retrospective, noninterventional case series.

Participants: We included 200 patients.

Anterior segment optical coherence tomography of conjunctival nevus.

Purpose: To evaluate conjunctival nevi using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).

Design: Retrospective interventional case series.

Participants: There were 22 eyes of 21 patients with conjunctival nevus imaged with AS-OCT for evaluation and detection of cysts within conjunctival nevi.
