Efficacy of hydralazine and valproate in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, a phase II study.

Objectives: To evaluate the activity and safety of hydralazine and valproate (Transkrip) in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL).

Methods: Previously untreated and progressive/refractory CTCL patients received hydralazine at 83 mg or 182 mg/day for slow and rapid acetylators respectively plus magnesium valproate at a total dose of 30 mg/Kg t.i.

Expression Levels of Human Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1 and Deoxycytidine Kinase Enzyme as Prognostic Factors in Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia Treated with Cytarabine.

Background: Cytarabine (Ara-C) is the primary drug in different treatment schemas for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and requires the human equilibrative nucleoside transporter (hENT1) to enter cells. The deoxycytidine kinase (dCK) enzyme limits its activation rate. Therefore, decreased expression levels of these genes may influence the response rate to this drug.

Impact of a federal program on response rate & survival, in a cohort of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Analysis in a single national reference institution in México.

The actual standard of care of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) includes rituximab in combination with chemotherapy, with response rates up to 76%. However, this treatment may not be accessible to many patients, particularly in developing countries, where most of the treatment must be paid from the pocket of patients or their families. In México, since 2011 a federal program has fully covered this treatment of patients with DLBCL.

Quality of life in multiple myeloma: clinical validation of the Mexican-Spanish version of the QLQ-MY20 instrument.

Health-related quality of life (HRQL) has become an important outcome measurement in hematology. Our aim was to validate the quality of life questionnaire (QLQ)-MY20 instrument in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) in Mexico. The Mexican-Spanish versions of the QLQ-C30 and QLQ-MY20 instruments were applied to patients with MM at a cancer referral centre.

[National guidelines of diagnosis and treatment of the non-Hodgkin lymphoma].

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma comprises a heterogeneous group of haematological malignancies, classified according to their clinic, anatomic-pathological features and, lately, to their molecular biomarkers. Despite the therapeutic advances, nearly half of the patients will die because of this disease. The new diagnostic tools have been the cornerstone to design recent therapy targets, which must be included in the current treatment guidelines of this sort of neoplasms by means of clinical trials and evidence-based medicine.

Unlabelled: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common primary testicular neoplasm of older men but is rare in young men. The vast majority of primary testicular lymphomas (PTL) are intermediate- to high-grade lymphomas.

Objective: To describe the clinical, morphologic, and immunophenolypic characteristics of PTL seen in a referral center.

Primary lymphoma of bone.

Unlabelled: Primary lymphoma of bone (PLB) is a rare clinical-pathological entity representing less than 1% of all lymphomas. This work was aimed to review the presentation characteristics of PLB at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología including its management and evolution.

Material And Methods: Thirty cases of lymphoma of bone were diagnosed between 1972 and 1999 from a database including 577 patients with lymphoma.
