To better understand the factors involved in maternal-fetal transmission of Trypanosoma cruzi, we compared DNA levels-obtained by use of quantitative real-time PCR and parasitic genotypes determined by PCR amplification followed by hybridization-in Bolivian mothers and their congenitally infected newborns.
