Objectives: Extended septal myectomy and alcohol septal ablation are 2 invasive treatments for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Our goal was to compare which of these techniques achieved a higher reduction in gradients, improvement in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class and reduction in medical treatment.
Methods: It is a single-centre observational and retrospective analysis.
A 21-year-old woman with a history of atopy, peripheral eosinophilia, Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, and 5 episodes of myocarditis was diagnosed with eosinophilic myocarditis. Despite adequate immunosuppressive treatment and resolution of the myocarditis episode, the patient developed dilated cardiomyopathy and presented with worsening of her functional class. Finally, genetic testing unveiled an additional diagnosis: Danon disease.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes associated with the selection of larger or smaller THV in the context of BAM.
Methods: This was a multicenter observational study including patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement with the SAPIEN 3 or SAPIEN 3 Ultra-valve systems (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA) from April 2014 to June 2021.

Objective: In patients with advanced heart failure, the intravascular optical coherence tomography (OCT) of subsegmental pulmonary artery measurements is correlated with right heart catheterization parameters. Our aim was to study the prognostic value of pulmonary OCT, right heart catheterization data, and the echocardiographic estimation of pulmonary pressure in patients studied for elective heart transplants.
Methods: This research is an observational, prospective, multicenter study involving 90 adults with a one-year follow-up.

Introduction And Objectives: Endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) is the only technique able to establish an etiological diagnosis of myocarditis or inflammatory cardiomyopathy (ICM). The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical profile, outcomes, and prognostic factors of patients with suspected myocarditis/ICM undergoing EMB.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics, histological findings, and follow-up data of all patients with suspected myocarditis or ICM who underwent EMB between 1997 and 2019 in a Spanish tertiary hospital.
Background: Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality among long-term heart transplant recipients. There is an unmet need for a non-invasive biomarker of CAV that could obviate the need to perform surveillance coronary angiograms in these patients. Our aim was to evaluate the performance of Donor-derived Cell Free DNA (dd-cfDNA) as a biomarker of CAV.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer therapy over the last decade. Pembrolizumab, a humanized monoclonal IgG4 antibody, binds to the programmed death 1 (PD-1) receptor, blocking its interaction with programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and thereby increasing the anti-tumor activity of the host immune system. These drugs are associated with immune-mediated side effects that can be life threatening, and myocarditis is among the most serious events.

Therefore, we compare the outcomes after TMVR with Mitraclip between two groups according to LVEF.
Methods: In an observational registry study, we compared the outcomes in patients with FMR who underwent TMVR with and without LVEF <30%.

Objectives: To compare the safety and efficacy of the new cobalt-chromium bioactive stent Titan Optimax (Hexacath, France) with its predecessor, Titan-2 .
Background: The TIOMAX registry includes 784 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with these stents in 21 Spanish hospitals.
Methods: Analysis of all patients in the registry without exclusion criteria, candidates for revascularization (March-2013/July-2014).
Introduction And Objectives: The beneficial effect of coronary collateral circulation (CC) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of CC before reperfusion with primary angioplasty (PA) on the long-term prognosis of these patients.
Methods: Retrospective observational study of a cohort of 947 patients treated with PA and TIMI grade ≤ 1 flow in a single center from 2005 to 2013.

Introduction And Objectives: The recommendation for dual antiplatelet therapy following drug-eluting stent implantation ranges from 6 months to 12 months or beyond. Recent trials have suggested the safety of a 6-month dual antiplatelet therapy regimen, yet certain caveats to these studies limit the applicability of this shorter duration dual antiplatelet therapy strategy in real world settings.
Methods: A registry was constructed with consecutive recruitment of patients undergoing new-generation drug-eluting stent implantation and prescribed 6 months of dual antiplatelet therapy.
Background: The optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) following second-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation is still debated.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to test the noninferiority of 6 versus 12 months of DAPT in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with second-generation DES.
Methods: The SECURITY (Second Generation Drug-Eluting Stent Implantation Followed by Six- Versus Twelve-Month Dual Antiplatelet Therapy) trial was a 1:1 randomized, multicenter, international, investigator-driven, noninferiority study conducted from July 2009 to June 2014.
The safety and effectiveness of angioplasty for chronic total occlusions of the coronary arteries have been demonstrated in several studies, but the success rate is less than for conventional interventions. The complexity of the procedures presents a major challenge. In selected cases, performing angioplasty of the occlusion via a retrograde approach has been used as an alternative.

Thrombolytic treatment was initiated and a few minutes after, chest pain returned and an inferior ST-segment-elevation infarction was diagnosed at that moment. Catheterization revealed multiple embolic occlusion of coronary branches.
