Background: Denosumab represents a valuable treatment option for unresectable giant cell tumors of the bone (GCTBs). However, no standardized protocols exist determining the length of administration, with few studies having been published on patients who reached the end of treatment.
Aims: To analyze the outcomes of patients diagnosed with GCTB and who had finished single treatment with denosumab.
Avobenzone is an ultraviolet (UV) filter that is often included in sunscreen formulations despite its lack of photostability. Its inclusion is necessary due to few existing alternatives for photoprotection in the UVA region (320-400 nm). To better understand and predict the photostability of avobenzone, ultrafast transient electronic absorption spectroscopy (TEAS) has been used to study the effects of solvent (including emollients), concentration and skin surface temperature on its excited-state relaxation mechanism, following photoexcitation with UVA radiation (∼350 nm).

These tumors have poor prognosis as only a palliative therapeutic approach can be offered to patients. We report on an extremely rare case in which bilateral lung metastases disappeared spontaneously following surgical resection of the primary CIC-rearranged sarcoma with no addition of chemotherapy or any other systemic therapy.

These esters are a promising foundation for designing UV filters, particularly for the UVA region (400 - 315 nm), where adequate photoprotection is currently lacking. Whilst sinapate esters are highly photostable due to a cis-trans (and vice versa) photoisomerization, the cis-isomer can display increased genotoxicity; an alarming concern for current cinnamate ester-based human sunscreens.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our experience with bone allograft and its major complications when used for limb -preserving operations for bone tumours. Forty-one structural allografts were performed in 39 patients between 1992 and 2012.
Purpose: Minimally invasive techniques that introduce cement and bone substitutes inside the fractured vertebral body are a new treatment line with clinically proven efficacy. However, mechanical behaviours between different fillers throughout fracture evolution is yet to be clarified, as many substances are available for introduction into the vertebral body fracture.
Methods: We comparatively studied biomechanical properties of tricalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate with bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-7) and autologous bone marrow aspirate with rhBMP-7 in vivo to determine what substance is optimal for repairing vertebral lesions in a porcine model.
Importance: More than 70% of patients with resistant hypertension have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, there is little evidence about the effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on blood pressure in patients with resistant hypertension.
Objective: To assess the effect of CPAP treatment on blood pressure values and nocturnal blood pressure patterns in patients with resistant hypertension and OSA.
We made a comparative cohort study in patients suffering from tibial pseudoarthrosis, all of whom were treated by intramedullary nailing. We divided patients into two groups: one treated by intramedullary nailing only (control group) and the other by intramedullary nailing combined with pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs). The study included 57 cases of tibial pseudoarthrosis in 57 patients from February 1987 to February 2002.

This type of sarcoma usually is classified into the heterogeneic group of small round-cell bone tumors as a subdivision of Ewing's sarcomas. The immuno-staining positivity of the neoplastic cells for the neuron-specific enolase allowed the authors to make the diagnosis of a tumor with neuroectodermal origin.
