Autoimmunity following COVID-19 vaccination has been reported. Herein, a 79-year-old man with clinical and immunological features of autoimmune hepatitis type 1 after ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccination is presented. Clinical manifestations rapidly remitted after the instauration of immunomodulatory management.

It is one of the most active countries in this field in Latin America but has faced problems with the regulation and appropriate management of solid organ transplantations, including transplant tourism, which is a worldwide problem. There is a well-structured donation and transplant network regulated by the government in all the stages of the process.

Solid-organ transplant recipients are a particularly high-risk group, depending on the net state of immunosuppression. In these patients, the infection usually appears after the first year after transplant, although it may occur earlier in liver transplant recipients.

Methods: This was an analytical study of a retrospective cohort of patients, discriminated according to idiopathic or drug-induced etiology, followed up for a 7-year period until 31 December 2016.
Background: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) with characteristics of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is known as overlap syndrome. Its prevalence and prognosis have not yet been determined comparatively with AIH.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted comparing patients diagnosed with AIH and AIH-PBC overlap syndrome, followed-up for seven years in a university hospital in Colombia, until 31 December 2016.
Introduction: Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic liver disease that impacts on morbidity and mortality of patients. Few epidemiological data exist of this in Latin America and Colombia.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to describe the demographic, clinical and laboratory characteristics of the patients; the treatment and the response to it, the evolution and course of the disease, requirement of liver transplantation and mortality.
Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) occult infection (OBI) is a risk factor to be taken into account in transfusion, hemodialysis and organ transplantation. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize at the molecular level OBI cases in patients with end-stage liver disease.
Methods: Sixty-six liver samples were obtained from patients with diagnosis of end-stage liver disease submitted to liver transplantation in Medellin (North West, Colombia).
Background: Hyperglycemia is a frequent phenomenon in hospitalized patients that is associated with negative outcomes. It is common in liver transplant patients as a result of stress and is related to immunosuppressant drugs. Although studies are few, a history of diabetes and the presentation of hyperglycemia during liver transplantation have been associated with a higher risk for rejection.

It constitutes a cause of acute liver failure and, in many cases, is responsible for the rejection of new pharmacological agents during efficacy and safety studies. Risk factors, as well as pathogenesis of drug-induced liver injury, are poorly understood.
