[Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, in a HIV-infected patient. Case report].

Hematological manifestations for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are frequent and diverse due to its ability to affect almost all cell lines. Among these, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is one of the thrombotic microangiopathies syndromes, characterized by the presence of thrombocytopenia and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia with impaired renal function. Nowadays, the relationship between these two entities is rare given the current highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).

Clinical and microbiological characteristics of patients with Raoultella spp. isolation in Bogotá, Colombia.

Introduction: Raoultella spp. is a gram-negative bacillus with increasing clinical importance due to the development of multi-drug resistance and because it has been reported as a cause of invasive infection. The risk of infection increases if comorbidities present such as diabetes mellitus and malignancies.

Prognostic factors in hospitalized patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection, Bogotá, Colombia.

Introduction: Infection with the new SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus is a worldwide public health emergency; its diagnosis is based on molecular tests, while its prognosis depends on the patient’s history and on some paraclinical tests. In Colombia, forecasts are not yet counted. Objective: To assess the factors associated with the development of severe disease in hospitalized patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection, as well as the prognostic factors for the outcome of mortality.

Acute adrenal insufficiency due to paracoccidiodomycosis. Report of 2 cases.

Paracoccidiodomycosis s is an endemic infection in Latin America. It can affect several organs, but systemic involvement is rare, especially when the adrenal glands and the central nervous system are affected. We describe two cases of paracoccidiodomycosis presenting with Addison's disease, one of which also presented with a pseudotumor cerebri.

Adenovirus and novel coronavirus (SARS-Cov2) coinfection: A case report.

SARS-Cov2 coinfection with other respiratory viruses is very rare. Adenovirus coinfection is even more unusual. We report the case of a patient with poorly controlled diabetes, and he was admitted to the emergency department because of severe COVID-19 infection.
