The bearded vulture () is an endangered species with a specialist osteophagous (bone) diet. The key steps of the synthetic sequence (11 steps, 46% global) are the nucleophilic attack of a hindered tertiary alkoxide, a ring-closing metathesis reaction, and the Diels-Alder cycloaddition of a dienol acetate.

This geolocation technique can suffer from fix loss biases due to poor satellite GPS geometry, that result in tracking data gaps leading to wrong research conclusions. In addition, new solar-powered GPS tags deployed on birds can suffer from a new "battery drain bias" currently ignored in movement ecology analyses.
