Analysis of composition and microstructure of diatom frustules in mud on the coast of Boryeong- city, South Korea.

The microstructure of diatom frustules found in mud sediments along the coast of Boryeong- city, South Korea, was observed using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the constituent elements of diatoms were analyzed using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Diatom frustules and clay minerals were present in the SEM images of the mud powder. High-magnification SEM images revealed that the surface of the frustules contained identically shaped circular pores, measuring 1 μm in diameter, arranged at regular intervals.

Corona enhancement can substitute enhancing capsule in the imaging diagnosis of small (≤ 3 cm) HCCs on gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI.

Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features-enhancing capsule, corona enhancement or hypointense rim-observed in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs).

Methods: Of the HCCs surgically confirmed during a 5-year period (2013-2017), ≤ 3-cm lesions (n = 83) in 78 patients were evaluated. Presence of corona enhancement and enhancing capsule on multiphasic dynamic imaging and presence of hypointense rim on hepatobiliary phase imaging were determined retrospectively by two independent observers.

Idiom Comprehension Deficits in High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder Using a Korean Autism Social Language Task.

Among numerous tasks for assessing pragmatic linguistic skills, idioms are important to evaluating high-functioning ASD. Nevertheless, no assessment tool has been developed with specific consideration of Korean culture.
