  • Non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ) is an important way for the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) to fix its DNA and survive when it's not growing.
  • The main proteins involved in this process are called Ku and Ligase D, with Ku helping to stabilize DNA and protect its ends from damage.
  • Research showed that Ku has a strong attraction to double-stranded DNA and can form special structures with it, which is important for understanding how this bacteria can hide and survive in the body for a long time.

Detection of sugar by enzymatic assay has been suffering from costly, time-taking, instable and denaturation of glucose oxidase. Recently, chemosensors that have affinity towards boronate became the hot topic in the domain of monosaccharide detection. In this work, a novel strategy was addressed to fabricate carbon dots (C-dots) from linear sulfated polysaccharides κ- carrageenan and phenyl boronic acid for nonenzymatic monosaccharide (glucose) detection.
