A Collaborative Academic-Practice Approach to Meeting Educational and Workforce Needs.

This article describes an innovative academic-practice partnership designed to promote new nurse competency and meet employer needs for graduates with in-demand knowledge and competencies in specialty patient populations. Three practice partners identified areas of need and with the school of nursing developed specialty nursing elective courses with precepted clinical experiences.

Emergency preparedness and disaster response core competency set for perinatal and neonatal nurses.

A nationally derived consensus-based core competency set provides perinatal and neonatal nurses a template to guide emergency preparedness and disaster response educational and training activities. Moreover, this consensus-based core competency set allows for the identification and incorporation of measurable objectives that address the learning needs of nurses as well as the unique needs of pregnant women, new mothers, and infants during public health emergencies and disaster events.
