Nucleic acids have emerged as new materials with promising applications in nanotechnology, molecular electronics, and biosensing, but their electronic properties, especially at the single-molecule level, are largely underexplored. The Z-form is an exotic left-handed helical oligonucleotide conformation that may be involved in critical biological processes such as the regulation of gene expression and epigenetic processes. In this work, the electrical conductance of individual Guanine Cytosine (GC)-rich DNA:RNA molecules is measured in physiological buffer and 2,2,2-Trifluoroethanol (TFE) solvent, corresponding to the natural (right-handed helix) A-form typical in DNA:RNA hybrids and the (left-handed) Z-form conformations, respectively.

Similarly to the uncoordinated ligands, the new coordination compounds have shown to be photochemically active with respect to their trans-to-cis isomerization process. Their cis-to-trans back spontaneous reaction have been studied as a function of solvent, temperature and pressure and the corresponding activation parameters determined in order to investigate the mechanism of these transformations.

A 45-year-old woman suffering from primary hypothyroidism, previously well substituted with levothyroxine, was urgently referred from Primary Care to Endocrinology due to very elevated thyrotropin, free thyroxine at low limit of normality, very high cholesterol and generalised oedema. Hypothyroidism was suspected as the main aetiology of this clinical condition. A detailed examination showed nephrotic range proteinuria and the patient was finally diagnosed with lupus nephritis.

Recognized as a cornerstone of enhanced recovery protocols, effective perioperative fluid management is crucial for optimizing patient recovery and preventing postoperative complications, especially in high-risk patients. The scientific literature has extensively investigated various fluid infusion regimens, but recent publications indicate that not only the volume but also the type of fluid infused significantly influences surgical outcomes.

The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) has been explored to find the coordination preference of these cyclic systems toward specific Lewis bases, both anionic and neutral. Interaction energies with different electron-rich species have been computed and further decomposed into chemically meaningful terms by means of energy decomposition analysis.

Due to steric hindrance, only one molecule of LiC H adds to 1⋅thf generating the complex [Mo (H){μ-HLi(thf)C H }(μ-Ad ) ], (4⋅LiC H ). Computational studies disclose the existence of five-center six-electron bonding within the H-Mo≣Mo-C-Li metallacycles, with a mostly covalent H-Mo≣Mo-C group and predominantly ionic Li-C and Li-H interactions.

The objective of this study was to explore fluid therapy management during the perioperative period in our country.
Methods: We designed the Fluid Day study as a cross-sectional, multicentre, observational study.
Low-valent titanium species were prepared by reaction of [TiCp*X ] (Cp*=η -C Me ; X=Cl, Br, Me) with LiEH (E=Al, B) or BH (thf), and their structures elucidated by experimental and theoretical methods. The treatment of trihalides [TiCp*X ] with LiAlH in ethereal solvents (L) leads to the hydride-bridged heterometallic complexes [{TiCp*(μ-H)} {(μ-H) AlX(L)} ] (L=thf, X=Cl, Br; L=OEt , X=Cl). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations for those compounds reveal an open-shell singlet ground state with a Ti-Ti bond and can be described as titanium(II) species.

In this paper, we present a review with the latest advances in imaging techniques and surgical reconstructive treatment of lymphedema (lymphovenous anastomosis, vascularized lymph node transfer, and prophylactic lymphedema surgery). In addition, a protocol is established based on a multidisciplinary team (composed of physiatrists, plastic surgeons, radiologists and nuclear medicine radiologists) to optimize the treatment of these patients.

Hernia surgery is a procedure that is well suited to these missions, due to its low morbidity, the fact that it can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the improvement in quality of life that it provides.
Objective: To describe the results of Benefica Chirurgia (BC), a Spanish non-profit humanitarian association in hernia pathology.

Methods: Multicenter retrospective study of patients undergoing surgery for RCC pancreatic metastases, from January 2010 to May 2020.
Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of "outpatient readmissions" on the health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) of outpatients from a rheumatology clinic, meaning the effect of the patient's return to the outpatient clinic after having received care and been discharged.
Methods: We conducted an observational longitudinal retrospective study, with patients selected from the Hospital Clínico San Carlos Musculoskeletal cohort, based on having received at least one discharge from the outpatient clinic and having returned (readmission) at least once after the discharge. The main outcomes were the patients' baseline HR-QoL (measured on the first visit of each episode) and the ΔHR-QoL (difference between the HR-QoL in the last and the first visit of each episode).
Introduction: Rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) have a significant impact on patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) exacerbating disability, reducing independence and work capacity, among others. Predictors' identification affecting HRQoL could help to place efforts that minimize the deleterious impact of these conditions on patients' wellbeing. This study evaluates the influence of demographic and clinical predictors on the HRQoL of a cohort of RMD patients, measured using the Rosser classification index (RCI).

Background: To assess mortality rate (MR) and standardized mortality rate (SMR) of rheumatoid arthritis-related interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) patients and to evaluate the role of radiographic patterns in mortality.
Methods: A longitudinal multicentric study was conducted in RA-ILD patients from 2005 to 2015 and followed-up until October 2018 in Madrid. Patients were included in the Neumologia-Reumatología y Enfermedades Autoinmunes Registry, from diagnosis of ILD.
TAMOF-1, a homochiral metal-organic framework (MOF) constructed from an amino acid derivative and Cu(II), was investigated as a heterogeneous catalyst in kinetic resolutions involving the ring opening of styrene oxide with a set of anilines. The branched products generated from the ring opening of styrene oxide with anilines and the unreacted epoxide were obtained with moderately high enantiomeric excesses. The linear product arising from the attack on the non-benzylic position of styrene oxide underwent a second kinetic resolution by reacting with the epoxide, resulting in an amplification of its final enantiomeric excess and a concomitant formation of an array of isomeric aminodiols.

Methods: Patients attending a rheumatology outpatient clinic from a tertiary care center in Madrid, Spain, from 1 September 2019 to 29 February 2020 were included. The reactions of LiAlH as the source of LiH with complexes that contain (H)Mo≣Mo and (H)Mo≣Mo(H) cores stabilized by the coordination of bulky Ad ligands result in the respective coordination of one and two molecules of (thf)LiH, with the generation of complexes exhibiting one and two HLi(thf)H ligands extending across the Mo≣Mo bond (Ad = HC(NDipp); Dipp = 2,6-PrCH; thf = tetrahydrofuran, CHO). A theoretical study reveals the formation of Mo-H-Li three-center-two-electron bonds, supplemented by the coordination of the Mo≣Mo bond to the Li ion. Attempts to construct a [Mo{HLi(thf)H}(Ad)] molecular architecture led to spontaneous trimerization and the formation of a chiral, hydride-rich MoLiH supramolecular organization that is robust enough to withstand the substitution of lithium-solvating molecules of tetrahydrofuran by pyridine or 4-dimethylaminopyridine.
