Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to determine if modafinil could enhance recovery after general anesthesia in patients with obstructive sleep apnea by assessing outcomes like extubation time and PACU stay.
  • The pilot study involved 102 patients who were randomly assigned to receive either modafinil or a placebo, but it was terminated early due to lack of significant results.
  • Ultimately, the findings indicated no difference in recovery metrics between the modafinil and placebo groups, suggesting that modafinil may not be beneficial for this purpose in patients with OSA.
