Background: Ovarian cancer treatment includes cytoreductive surgery, platinum-based chemotherapy, and often poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. Homologous recombination (HR)-deficiency is a well-established predictor of therapy sensitivity. However, over 50% of HR-proficient tumors also exhibit sensitivity to standard-of-care treatments.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey study of people assigned female at birth. Study participants were recruited at a university research facility located at the Minnesota State Fair in September 2021.
Pancreatic β-cells are exquisitely sensitive to developmental nutrient stressors, and alterations in nutrient sensing pathways may underlie changes observed in these models. Here we developed a mouse model of in utero exposure to the anti-diabetic agent metformin. We have previously shown that this exposure increases offspring pancreatic β-cell mass at birth.
